Our bulk fretwire is supplied in convenient clear storage tubes, to keep your wire organized and your workbench uncluttered. You'll save 50% or more when you order fretwire by the pound.

Instrument makers and repair shops rely on us for the highest quality 18% nickel-silver fretwire. We supply our fretwire in 2-foot straight lengths. Order 6 feet for a complete guitar or bass fret job, and 4 feet for a mandolin, banjo or ukulele.

Our fretwire is sized to fit a 0.023" (0.58mm) fret slot width.

Fretwire is made in a variety of crown heights. Note that after the frets are installed and leveled, they can lose from .004" to .010" in height. High fretwire has a crown height of .045" or more. It may offer more note sustain due to its slightly greater mass, and more fret dressings are possible between refrettings. Low fretwire is often useful for partial refret jobs.

Excellent but...

So far it's amazing, it should be noted that more than one length is required for a fretboard though, so don't cheap out and get just one thinking you'll get your job finished, cuz you Will come up short by at least 10 frets

Big-boy fretwire

Needed some really big fretwire to act as a zero fret for an 1969 Zim-Gar (Teisco). This really did the trick. Too bad you don't sell it by the fret!

Its wire and its for fretting and when you fret with it you get good frets. Its pretty strait forward. I cuts easily with nippers but wears well. Not much else to say.

Not what I expected

I found It hard to shape it to the radius of the neck, and filing wasn't that great. Cutting them to size was fairly easy.

There's no going back after this fretwire!

This fretwire makes playing a real joy! Bending's a delight, with the strings effortlessly gliding over the frets and back. And they sound brighter too! Imagine they'll last an age, the material and thickness requiring a gorilla hand to wear these frets out. Way to go, Stewmac!
