Order fretwire by the pound for tidy savings!
Our bulk fretwire is supplied in convenient clear storage tubes, to keep your wire organized and your workbench uncluttered. You'll save 50% or more when you order fretwire by the pound.

Instrument makers and repair shops rely on us for the highest quality 18% nickel-silver fretwire. We supply our fretwire in 2-foot straight lengths. Order 6 feet for a complete guitar or bass fret job, and 4 feet for a mandolin, banjo or ukulele.

Our fretwire is sized to fit a 0.023" (0.58mm) fret slot width.

Fretwire is made in a variety of crown heights. Note that after the frets are installed and leveled, they can lose from .004" to .010" in height. High fretwire has a crown height of .045" or more. It may offer more note sustain due to its slightly greater mass, and more fret dressings are possible between refrettings. Low fretwire is often useful for partial refret jobs.

Although the guitar has hornbeam back & sides, boxwood bridge, & oak fingerboard, the rest is all from Stewmac. I know that I can depend on everything that I buy from Stewmac to produce a top quality & great sounding guitar. None of the guitars I've made in the last ten years have had buzzing problems or needed a re-fret. Thanks guys for great products & an unbeatable service. Chip. Hertfordshire, UK

I've lost count of the number of guitars I have fretted or refretted with StewMac's fretwire, in a few different sizes. Bends nicely, seats firmly, very consistent from batch to batch and the price is very reasonable. I've used a lot of it and will continue to use it.

Good frets, but....

By Shannon Greenlaw from Halifax CANADA

Very good quality frets that match very well with vintage Gibsons. You need to start at the longer frets first in case you cut one short, you can use it up higher on the neck. There is not much waste on the length, so do not over measure on these, because you'll run out.
