Details

Modern nonflammable alternative to traditional nitrocellulose lacquer. Equipment cleans up with soap and water.

Our ColorTone® Waterbase Lacquer has exceptional clarity and rivals nitrocellulose in appearance, with less shrinkage and no yellowing. 100% burn-in between coats means wet-sanding without "witness lines," and invisible touch-ups, too. You can tint the finish or the sealer with ColorTone Liquid Stains before spraying.

One can goes a long way!
1 quart will topcoat 1 acoustic body and neck.
1 quart will topcoat 3 entire mandolins.
1 quart will topcoat 2 to 3 solid guitar or bass bodies.
1 quart will topcoat 3 to 5 electric guitar or bass necks.
1 quart will topcoat 5 to 6 ukuleles.
1 quart will topcoat 3 to 4 dulcimers.
1 quart will topcoat 4 to 5 banjo rims and necks.
These are averages.
Your results may vary according to your spray gun adjustments and spraying pressure, and the number and thickness of your finish coats.

ColorTone® Waterbase Guitar Lacquers have been formulated to give a clear, hard, easy to apply, easy to repair alternative to current solvent finish choices. The ColorTone waterbase product line includes stains, pigments, grain filler, sanding sealer, clear gloss topcoat and retarder. These materials can be used together exclusively, or used under and on top of many other products, such as shellac or lacquer.

I used this product on a total refinish of a P bass and am totally satisfied. Sprayed with a siphon feed Earlex HVLP sprayer and applied 10 coats with no runs or sags. Used thin coats, did not dilute it either. Wet sanded after 1 week of curing, starting with 1200 grit down to 12000 and then used Turtle Wax polishing compound for a mirror finish. Super hard finish, will definitely use this product from now on. Easy cleanup, no VOCs, will never "yellow".
