Preservation Polish

About This Item

Silicone-free and repair shop friendly, with no wax or silicone residues. 12-ounce bottle.

Preservation Polish gently cleans, polishes and protects lacquer and varnish finishes.

Ordinary guitar polishes shine by leaving a long-lasting silicone residue that's very hard to remove. If your guitar ever needs a repair, the silicone will prevent glue or finish from adhering, making even simple repairs more difficult and costly.

Simply apply Preservation Polish with a clean cotton cloth. It leaves no wax or silicone residues, so there's no cloudy film, stickiness or build-up. And it won't discolor the patina of vintage finishes.

Luthiers and repair shops: You've learned the hard way that guitars and silicone are bad company. Silicone residue makes it difficult for glue or finish to adhere properly and is a primary cause of "fisheyes" and cratering in lacquer finishes. It's even worse if silicone reaches bare wood or gets into the cracks of older finishes. Even the simplest finish repairs can become more difficult, time-consuming and costly. Do your colleagues a favor — use Preservation Polish and recommend it to your customers!

My Favorite Polish

I have tried other brands, and they just seem to smear around. This one goes on and comes off clean. Also, no silicone. Some polishes don't even say.

I purchased Preservation Polish after reading of it on Stew Mac's site. I currently use Gibson and Martin Guitar polish which do a decent job. After using the Preservation Polish I wlll no longer go back to the Gibson and Martin Guitar polish. The Preservation Polish definitely outshines them and has made me a believer. Excellent product.

This is the only polish I use on my guitars. I feel confident that it will do the job nicely and not be harmful to the finish of any of my guitars.

Doesn't leave cloudy/milky patina like other stuff does.

I don't get any A plus grade vintage instruments, just old beaters through a pawn shop that need to be cleaned up and resold, so it works great for my needs. Doesn't leave cloudy/milky patina like other stuff does. I'll let the internet trolls argue about what's truly the best guitar polish while I snooze.

I have 25 Guitars and I'm 71 years old , AND they needed CLEANED and POLISHED ! I've used a lot of products but this Cleaner Polish WORKS ! Ya' do one section at a time , put it on a rag , apply , wait a few seconds and the Old Polish comes OFF , Yucc ! I had no idea my Axes were that dirty ! Now the shine is so good you can read the numbers of a ruler stood on end in the finish Ha!Ha! I Love It ! FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS ! If ya' got a little cut on your hand , this will sting , that's the stuff that takes the Old Polish off . Do ya' get the Idea , I endorse this Product !

Great for guitars and also for polishing my Antique Radio Collection.

I love this polish because its not to heavy nor is it greasy. Easier to work with and it makes those vintage radio's both plastic and wood shine like the top of the Chrysler Building. Thanks Stew Mac. You've done it again.

Great stuff but not exactly what I expected

This really is a great product. Brought back an incredible shine to some of my guitars that were starting to look pretty crummy and helped me finish off a little repair project. I was a little surprised at the consistency of this polish though... having bought other guitar "polishes" in the past, I really expected something more like those spray cleaners that you just spray/wipe on and wipe right back off. This stuff, however, goes on more like a car polish and starts to haze pretty quickly and needs to be wiped off before it dries completely. Thoroughly impressed by the result though, so I don't care whether it's the consistency of water or bacon grease! It works!
