Great product, just needs some quick work before putting the frets in

To start I should say I am not a instrument builder, I am just a woodworker looking for something new to build. I bought this for a ukulele I built, it is a great product but looking back I should have sanded it to about 400 BEFORE putting the frets in. Also it is very tricky getting the frets into the slots without marring the fret or the board, but also I probably didn't use the proper tools or techniques.

I've used these a few times and they are of good quality. If you don't need a custom fretboard these save lots of time.

Be careful...

The quality of the fingerboard is first rate; however, the amount of remaining material after the 19th fret was insufficient to cover the the gap at the top of my rosette which was more classical guitar like than a couple thin rings. All is not lost, I am going to use the purchased fingerboard as a key to saw a blank I have...alas though, I now have to buy a fret saw.

Don't has hesitate to purchase these fingerboards but before you do check the amount of coverage you need for your rosette; if it is more than a quarter to three-eights, ask them to select a unit with sufficient material. I would have like to return the unit but the postage fees in both directions doesn't make much sense.

I recently started building Ukes and decided to purchase fingerboards from Stewmac rather than make my own. The quality is very which saves me a lot of time and the prices is also reasonable. I am a hobby luthier and these fingerboards are perfect for my shop.
