Perfect reincarnation of one exceptional 1952 Telecaster®.

In the early days, Fender bodies were made on shop tools, by hand. Small variations from one guitar to the next are the result of this handwork, and every so often a "Best of the Best" vintage Fender turns up.

Our '52 Body is a flawless recreation of one of those great Teles®. It's shaped exactly like the original, but we've left the final sanding and finishing for you—just as if you were in Fender's Fullerton workshop back in the day.

Choice woods for Golden Age Solidbodies

Swamp Ash: We've selected best quality Southern swamp ash, lightweight and toneful. Our swamp ash has striking grain like the fantastic '52 Tele we started from.
Nearly seamless grain matching: our swamp ash pieces are sawn and selected for superb grain matching. This gives the almost seamless look that's so important under transparent finishes.

One-piece Clear Pine: Related to spruce and cedar, pine is a very light softwood gaining lots of attention for its great tone. Golden Age pine bodies are made from Eastern White Pine that is grown, harvested, and processed in Ohio. This pine is clear and straight-grained, milled from trees we've found that will yield full-size bodies in one piece. (Lumber yard pine won't do.) No need to worry about pine sap seepage: we kiln-bake each piece until any pitch inside is thoroughly crystalized.

Knotty Pine: We also make a Knotty Pine version with quirky character, for making a guitar with a wild side!

Shaped like a true '52
The shape of the body and electronics cavities exactly match the 1952 original. The body is 1-3/4" thick with the correct 1/8" radius. The small router hump next to the neck pocket, and the 7/8" flat at the output jack, are quirks we retained for vintage accuracy.

Holes for mounting the bridge are drilled. Holes for string-thru-body are partially drilled, giving you the option of using a top-mounted bridge instead. Neck mounting holes are started in the traditional 4-screw placement, it's easy to finish them out with a hand drill. Our Replacement Neck for Tele Guitar is a perfect fit.

Ready for final shaping, sanding and finishing.

Sorry to say this.

It should be known that I'm a long time Customer of Stewart McDonald and normally have nothing but praise for their products and services, they truly make life easier for Folks in My line of work. That being said, I would strongly suggest that they find a New Vendor for these bodies, reason being is the neck pocket is only 9/16" deep, a full 1/16" shy of the standard 5/8" spec....I of course didn't find this out until the build for the Customer was just about completed and after mounting the neck. So this can certainly be corrected by Me w/ a router and a top bearing bit, but will certainly effect My bottom line,,,,So I regret to say it will be the very last Body I will purchase (it was my 1st) until You change Vendors...this is not a small mistake...a neck pocket that is 1/16" too shallow on a Bolt neck build is a Huge deal, especially for the Home builder or inexperienced. Sorry I had to write this negative review, but your Buyer needs to know this...I strongly suggest that You check the depth of the neck pockets on your remaining bodies in stock.

Golden Age Swamp Ash Tele Body

Awesome, simply stated. Very pleased with the quality and degree of wood finish and grain. Ready to stain, lacquer or whatever with some light finish sanding and filling. The fender 'replacement' neck fits the body really tight. Gotoh bridge and tuners, Golden Age pickups, 4-Way switch, and I also used the copper foil shielding kit which makes this thing unbelievably quiet, no noise at all! I used the bright green SM stain mixed with the lacquer to get a nice dark green translucent finish. My first electric build...! And it actually works! Sweet! Thanks Stew Mac, great stuff again!

Golden Age Telecaster - Pine

Just finished my 52 Tele with the Pine Golden Age Body. Very happy with the wood. Nice tone, and it's light as a feather. Also used the Stewmac transition ferrules for the tuning pegs since my flamed maple neck was designed for newer model Fenders. Very useful parts as I was using the Vintage Fender tuning machines. Also used the Stewmac Compensation bridges. Very happy with the result.

I was very happy with the purchase of the body and the neck. The neck fit great, with no issues. I did have to sand the body (which I expected) and I did struggle for a bit, threading the neck pick-up wires. The items I purchased from Stewmac, were packed properly and shipped in a timely manor. email communication was quick and polite. nice experience, cheers from Canada

nice piece of swamp ash, but...

Nice piece of wood. Can't even see the joint. Looks like it had a skillfully replaced "chip out", from the planer, below the bridge, but it's tough to see from a far. String almost-through holes not evenly spaced, for some reason. Had to plug and re-drill. Neck pocket was perfect size and placement.

This one came out pretty good. I wanted to see one with a traditional Cherry wood stain finish followed by a nitro cellulose lacquer top finish and no grain fill.

Fine piece of Ash

This is my second build and I've had this body since November waiting for better weather and humidity to begin. This time instead of color tinted lacquer I went with a Cherry oil stain and will top that with clear nitrocellulose lacquer. Here is the first coat of back stain and I love the gain on this body. This is going to Big Red.

I built it as an Esquire, and the finish consists of one coat of white grain filler and 3 ounces of your nitro lacquer. Finished weight of the instrument is 7 lbs. 4 oz. What I'd really like to emphasize is the perfect fit of your maple neck to the body pocket. Everything was extremely snug and perfectly aligned the first time I assembled the axe. There's a clarity and sustain in this instrument that I don't think I've ever heard from a Tele-style axe in over 50 years of playing. Friends have literally sold their Teles after playing this thing. It was a first project for me, and I'm certain anyone who can disassemble and put back together an electric guitar could create an exceptional instrument. You guys have a really good thing going here.

Pine clear

Nice light body with beautiful grain. Things you need to know.

- Body has some router marks and will need fine sanding.
- pine is soft and you are likely to mark it if you don't have experience with it
- The string holes (for ferrules) through the body do not come pre drilled. However there is a starting hole. Ferrule placement can be tricky.

Otherwise a joy and it sounds as good as it plays.
