Nice maple, dry and straight grained. I would also like a quarter sawn option

Stunning curly maple!

Yes the figured maples are pricey, but wow are they beautiful! I had one that came a little warped and called customer service about it. They rushed me a replacement right away that was perfect and with incredible flame. The customer support is top notch.

Almost perfect.

The price is right, delivery is fast, and the quality was great. My only wish is that Stew Mac also sold a quarter sawn option, that would be worth paying more for. But if you're happy with a flat sawn blank, I've found these to do a great job. Just be aware due to sizing that these aren't suitable for a one piece neck, you'll need a fretboard for these. And maybe some carbon fibre neck rods, which Stew Mac also sell.

First time buy, very pleased. Nice figure, very hard, easy to work with.

99.9% of the time the blanks are dead flat and straight. What more do you want?

Really nice wood!

Perfect, straight grained wood! Did not use this for a neck. I am using it to fill in the routing for the tremolo. I am converting to a hardtail. Also the body has a swimming pool rout for the pickups that I am filling in, with intent to rout for single coil pickups, so as to remove as little wood as possible to enhance tone and sustain!

Quality has declined

I bought a curly maple neck blank several years ago that was exactly like the picture at the top of the page but the one I received this time was very little curl and even had pin knots in the middle of the board. The price has gone up and the quality has gone down.

Disappointed in the lack of figuring.

StewMac shipped my order real fast and I got the item within 3 days from DHL. I live in Sydney, Australia. Unfortunately the piece I got had very little figuring. There are some decent flames on the edge but they don't extend all around the neck after I carved it. I also tried to pop the figure by dyeing it brown and sanding back but this wasn't enough.

The flamed maple top and the ebony fretboard I received were very good though. Maybe I just happened to be unlucky.

I bought a curly maple for making a replacement fingerboard for my Strat. The quality is outstanding, now my guitar is a real eye-catcher! Thanks a lot, Stewart-MacDonald! Will shop again!
