Kerfed Guitar Linings

About This Item

We offer traditional angle-cut linings with kerfing that faces outward, and a newer radiused style with reverse kerfing.

The reverse style can add more stiffness to the sides, and a smoother appearance inside the body.

Traditional kerfed linings
7/32" x 9/16" x 15-1/2"
(5.56mm x 14.29mm x 393.70mm)
Reverse kerfed linings
7/32" x 5/8" x 16"
(5.56mm x 15.88mm x 406.40mm)

Kerfed lining ("kerfing") forms a surface for gluing and reinforcing a guitar's soundboard, sides and back. Each lining is kerfed (slotted) to allow easy bending to fit a guitar's curved sides.

Dreadnought and National™ style guitars require eight strips. Dobro® and soundwell instruments require twelve strips. Specially sized kerfed lining for mandolins (also for dulcimers) are available.

Good kerfings, but could be better.

The overall quality is good. Color is not consistent from stick to stick. I know this is nit picky, but I like the inside of my guitars to look as good as the outside. Another way to improve these is make the sticks long enough to a complete half side.

mahogany kerfing

I needed additional kerfing after I removed an old guitar top and damaged some of the original. This product worked out great and was a very inexpensive fix.

I used the make my own, but the extra effort wasn't worth the low cost of these pieces. They are very easy to work with and add a professional touch the inside of the guitar

Order two

Very nice quality but be advised it is only 16" so you need to order 2 for both sides of a back or 4 for top and back.
