Slotted Fingerboard for Paul Reed Smith and Dobro Guitars

By

Verified Buyer

First - the first board purchased arrived poorly cut and chipped, but I sent an email and photo's and the StewMac team replaced right away without question, 5 Stars right there! Next, these are really nice boards, and given a reasonable cost, are highly recommended!

Secondly - if you are comparing Ebony v/s Richlite/Rocklite, those boards are not at all the same hardness or weight of ebony and are lighter then rosewood boards. An ebony board from StewMac is definitely worth it's weight in gold.

Excellent quality Fingerboard,

Very consistent, well made and time saving fingerboards if you dont wanna spend a lot of time sanding down the radius with the 18'' aluminum radius blocs.

Experiment with scale

I made experiment with Ibanez JS replica.
First - 24 frets. 25,5" too long. 25" - just right!!
Second - neck through body. SUPER!!!

Turned out to be very good

I bought the Rosewood radiused fingerboard. The color is quite dark which I like, almost like ebony. When I got the fingerboard I thought the grain was to rough and deep. But after I had sanded it down to 800 grit it turned out very good. The slots made the fretting very easy, I used medium seized frets also from Stewart-MacDonald. But be careful to not sand down the fingerboard to much because the slots are not so deep.

Excellent Service

I was a little apprehensive about ordering a fretboard without being able to examine it first, so I asked specifically in my order for what I wanted, a dark, consistently grained piece. Shipping was very fast, and the board they sent was exactly what I wanted, beautiful, straight, consistent dark grain. I will definitely purchase again for future builds.
