Slotted Fingerboard for Gibson

About This Item

24.562" scale • 12" radius • 24 slots
Note: Gibson® guitar scale is commonly referred to as 24-3/4" but is actually 24.562".

This is the most common of three different scales described as 24-3/4" by Gibson over the years. Many Gibson's have alternate scale lengths—please measure your guitar before ordering!

Tip: For 20-fret necks, simply cut off the four highest slots.

Gibson® 24-3/4" scale changes over the years
The Gibson 24-3/4" scale is one of the most common, and most confusing of all scale lengths-this is because it rarely ever measures out to be 24-3/4 inches! This scale has gradually changed over the past fifty or so years due to changes in production equipment.

Learn more about scale length and how scale length affects tone.

Our kiln-dried fingerboards have flat undersides, are unfretted (no inlays), and ready for trimming to fit a variety of neck widths.

Approximate dimensions: 2-3/8" x 18-1/2" x 15/64" (60.32mm x 469.90mm x 5.95mm)
Scale: 24.562" (623.87mm)
Radius: 12" (304.80mm)
Fret slots: 24 slots, 0.023" wide (0.58mm). Ready to accept our fretwire.

Important:
Ebony is usually not uniformly black.
We offer Black Fingerboard Stain, as used by Gibson®, Paul Reed Smith® and other makers for darkening the streaks on ebony fingerboards, bridges and peghead overlays.

Excellent boards

By
(Customer's Reviews)

I've ordered several of these boards and they are always spot on when it come to radius and scale. I did receive one board that had some gouging on the edges, but that was outside the dimensions of the neck so no-harm/no-foul. The grain pattern on the boards that I have received has been consistently excellent. It saves me a lot of time having to radius, mark and slot the board myself. So its worth the cost as I can spend that time on other tasks in my guitar building.

These fingerboards are really great and the fret spacing always perfect at a very reasonable price.

The gibson style fingerboars makes easy playability and good intonation

By
(Customer's Reviews)

The fret slots are dead accurate to keep my intonation very good. Using a Gibson style fingerboard makes playing fairly easy to fret notes. The reason: The Gibson scale length is a little shorter than the others; The shorter length means that the strings don't have to be wound up with as much tension as the others do. I highly recommend it to other guitar builders.

Required very little work to make a nice fingerboard; pretty piece of wood, as well.

dissapointed

I have used stew-mac Fender fingerboards for years and found them excellent. I tried some of the Gibson boards and out of 5 I bought in, 3 have serious up bows. I asked for the worst one to be replaced and you guessed it the replacement was just as bad. To be fair Stewmac sent the replacement free of charge with (no) question. For this reason I'll keep buying here for sure but no more fingerboards.

They are still usable so i'll sell them off as seconds. Definitely not a premium product and I doubt I'd bother buying them again. Call me old fashioned or too picky but I like my fingerboards to be flat and true.

Hit or miss

I've bought two of these. The first one was fantastic. Beautiful wood. The second one was horrible. Over 50% sap wood with planer chatter and fuzz. I should have sent it back, but I went ahead and sanded it smooth and dyed it black. It's going to be okay in the end, but next time I'll be sending it straight back.
