Our kiln-dried fingerboards have flat undersides, are unfretted (no inlays), and ready for trimming to fit a variety of neck widths.

Approximate dimensions: 2-1/2" x 18-3/4" x 15/64" (63.50mm x 476.25mm x 5.95mm)
Scale: 25.34" (643.64mm)
Radius: 16" (406.40mm)
Fret slots: 20 slots, 0.023" wide (0.58mm). Ready to accept our fretwire.

Important:
Ebony is usually not uniformly black.
We offer Black Fingerboard Stain, as used by Gibson®, Paul Reed Smith® and other makers for darkening the streaks on ebony fingerboards, bridges and peghead overlays.

Dreadnought guitar kit

By

Verified Buyer

I recently ordered the dreadnought guitar kit. It arrived with the fret board having a slight defect.
No worries, one phone call and a new one was on the way. I haven't begun the build yet, but, everything else looks great, and I can certainly vouch for customer service.
Thanks Stew-Mac.

Ebony is excellent...

Dense and wonderful to work with. The rosewood has been great for years but a recent batch was lightweight and not hard enough to hold on to the fret tangs. They popped loose when I hammered some of the frets flat. We'll see if it's a ongoing problem. BTW, Stewmac was on the ball giving me an immediate account credit.

Solid purchase

No issues. I would note, though, that there is SUBSTANTIAL variation in wood color between boards. Not an issue, but worth noting.

I ordered a guitar kit (Dreadnought) from StewMac and after careful inspection I noticed the fingerboard was defective. It took a short call to customer service to get a new one shipped to me in a few days, in perfect condition, free shipping. I love this company, their product's quality and amazing customer support. Had a small problem.

Had a small problem with the first one I received. When it was cut, it was off square about a quarter of a inch. I called Stew Mac; By the way, their service department is excellent. I told them about the problem and long story short, had a new one 3 days later. I compared the new to a Martin I got sitting in the corner and it's dead on. Not even a tiny bit off. Excellent fret board.

Makes life a little easier.

I decided to purchase a slotted fingerboard, and I thought I might feel a little guilty for taking this little short-cut. Didn't happen. It was a good decision and I'm happy I did it.
