Product Details

ABS plastic bindings are used by Gibson, Martin, Taylor, Fender and many other manufacturers. The material adheres well to wood and to itself.

Our ABS plastic bindings are 65" long — a single piece will reach completely around a guitar body. These bindings are manufactured with smooth edges, not rough-sawn from sheets, for closer size tolerances.

#5792 extra-tall .565" binding is the right size for Les Paul® and similar guitar tops.

To laminate bindings, you can sandwich them using our Binding Laminator and acetone. Measure carefully before you rout the channels, and almost any combination can be installed.

In the example illustration,
A  is a white/black/white/black laminate of .010" strips,
B  combines .020" black and .040" white, and
C  uses .020" white and .020" black, installed sideways as edge trim.

For easy installation, we recommend Weld-On Cement.

Binding tape or rubber binding bands will hold the bindings in place while the glue dries.

Use a scraper blade to trim the glued bindings flush to the surrounding wood.

Great binding material

By Marcio Costa from Brasil
(Customer's Reviews) Wednesday, April 16, 2014

I've bound several types of material, these are my favorite. Works well with acetone and plastic cement, but my glue of choice is ultra-thin cyanoacrilate. I tape all the layers in the slot of the instrument (3, 5 even 9 strips at once), tighten the a 4" area with finger pressure and drop the glue to the laminated side. The glue absorbs and spreads between the layers, forming an invisible, irreversible bond, plastics and wood get a hard bond in a single step. Very easy to scrape.

Good binding material. Bends cold pretty well but for those super tight bends just add a little heat and it won't get white bend lines in it. Its tough too and sands or scrapes nicely.

Terrific replacement...

A nice replacement for jobs on most guitars that are damaged...a great value!

Honest review.

Again shipping and handling is PERFECT.
The binding was smaller than i thought and was not very happy with the feel of it so (No smooth edges at all) i had to work on it to make it look and feel way better.

I went medium width white narrow black and wide white on my Rick build and it looks great with a deep transparent red stain.

These are very easy to work with and install. I usually always prefer wood bindings, but when the situation calls for plastic, these wont dissapoint.

I actually glued 3 pieces at once, just a little practice and it can be done

Good, but I like wood better

By Adams Guitars from Wisconsin
(Customer's Reviews) Thursday, January 03, 2013

I used these on my first acoustic guitar and it turned out very nice. But, I prefer the wood bindings instead. The wood bindings were a little more work than plastic, but I think they look much nicer. The plastic bindings are easier to fix mistakes though.

Works as Advertised

This ABS binding is very precise in both width and thickness. One caution, it bleeds into white ABS if you are making multi layer perflings using acetone as cement.
