Dunlop Reverend Willy's Electric Guitar Strings

About This Item

Designed in collaboration with Billy Gibbons for Righteous Big Texas Tone!

Soulful, rich, articulate and smooth, Billy Gibbons' big fat Texas tone has been described as "hot, blue, and righteous." Dunlop developed Reverend Willy's Strings in collaboration with Billy himself—aiming to make strings that offer a real punch and still stay articulate and clear when performing his legendary leads and pinch harmonics.

The next time you open up a pack of Dunlop guitar or bass strings, you will notice that they've done away with the plastic bag and desiccant pack in favor of VCI (Vapor Corrosion Inhibitor) paper envelopes. These envelopes have VCI technology built into the paper itself, creating a barrier of protection around the string and keeping out moisture and rust. VCI is invisible and leaves no trace on the string. Dunlop Strings come out of the package as fresh as the day they were made.

10s comparable to Ernie Ball Regular Slinky's. Just a bit "noisier".

From reading other reviews I decided to give these a go.....so far so good....fitted to a Ibanez JTK1 with a few minor adjustments they are great.....took a little getting used to being so light. Lead and bending is a breeze, tired a bit of rhythm mainly twelve bar stuff and they played quite well....... Will try them at next gigg....
PS. I am from Australia and the postage and delivery from Stewmac is awesome....cheers

As a former player I had strings of choice I always stuck by. It was always Bang for the Buck. I would change strings for every gig and that was 2 to 3 times a week. Longevity was not the issue. Sounding crisp was the goal. When my my son began to play several years ago and his bands began playing out I tried my best to lean him to the strings I had been successful with in the past. He had to do it his way but in the end realized my choices were good and stopped the quest to find the ultimate string. Many may argue they do exist but let's be reasonable here, they may exist but come at a price. Dunlop Reverend Willy's Electric Guitar Strings, seemed to me, to be an efficient means to an end of pliability and common sense pricing. I ordered a few sets for my son and like I was hoping, he loved them. Good strings available in many gauges with good pricing. Longevity? Don't know, don't care. Change them for the gig, have fun and play your best.

I like to bend chords as much as individual strings, so decided to try the extra light Billy F Gibbons strings. They were almost impossible to feel, and offered next to zero resistance, making consistent play much more difficult. I suppose if I were playing 6-8 hours a day, every day, like I once did, they'd be easy to get used to. For now, I'll stay with regular Slinkys and extra Slinkys. But, hey, for those who like bending chords, give 'em a try- you might like 'em.
