Strobe tuning precision, right on your instrument!

Since the 1960s, Peterson strobe tuners have been the gold standard for professional musicians and instrument makers. The new StroboClip™ packs many of the features of Peterson's larger models into the world's first compact clip-on digital strobe tuner.

Patented Virtual Strobe™ technology brings an array of preset "sweetened" tunings for acoustic instruments, those subtle adjustments to equal temperament that make notes sound more harmonious anywhere on the fingerboard. You get 29 tuning modes in all, for practically any stringed instrument; for brass, woodwinds and pipes; for the Buzz Feiten System, AND user-calibration for overdubbing or playing along with hard-to-tune instruments such as pianos.

The StroboClip requires no wires or mics: all of that tuning precision—down to 1/1000 semitone—is available right on your instrument, at the touch of a button, on a bright, easy-to-read high-definition digital display. You could never hope to achieve this level of tuning ease and versatility by ear on a dark noisy stage!

Simply clip it onto the headstock—a sensitive piezo element in the spring-loaded clip picks up direct vibrations, unaffected by surrounding sounds. Peterson's exclusive Sustain Mode allows prolonged note viewing time for instruments with short sustain too, such as banjos.

Padded contact surfaces and a swiveling lower jaw on the spring clip help protect your instrument. The brushed-aluminum display housing swivels in three dimensions, so you'll always have a clear view. Even the storage case is impressive, a roadworthy compact metal container with form-fitted padding to protect the StroboClip when not in use. Auto sleep and power-off help conserve battery life.

Tuning range: C0 to B6
Concert pitch range: 400-490Hz
CR2032 coin cell battery included.

Pluses and minuses

By DeeCee from NY

First of all, the Stroboflip is extremely accurate, more accurate than any tuners I’ve used (except the large Petersons, of course). Being that it clips on the headstock, I use it constantly, even hanging around the house, and it’s been amazing to be playing really IN TUNE all the time. Being that it’s a clip-on, it picks up the guitar better than the older Peterson Stroboflip did via it’s mic.
Comments: First, the handles on the Stroboclip have “grips” molded out of smooth, hard should really be rubberized (even the cheap red Snark has rubberized clip grips) - the Stroboclip has almost slipped out of my hands numerous times.
Second, it’s chrome/silver. Gak. Visually, it stands out in an unpleasant way, and looks pretty bad against gold tuners. I would think the default color should be black...but if they really feel they need something unique, how about, like, oil rubbed bronze?
Thirdly, I use Petersons because they’re the most accurate...but I’m really not in love with the strobe interface. Can’t we have a friendlier interface as an option?

Da Best!

This thing rocks! I've tried a few clip ons and this is da best no doubt. I compared it to my large table top strobe and it is just as accurate. Maybe even a bit more so since there no air between the guitar and the tuner to bend the sound waves. Love it

I Always Wanted A Peterson

Its been decades since I first learned of Peterson's strobe tuners, but they were priced beyond my reach. The StroboClip changes that and I am thrilled to have this tuner. It is easy to use, AMAZINGLY accurate and built to last.

Big, but supurb

I just bought a second one of these, the first having "wandered". I'm a fan of the Peterson Stroboscopic read-outs, and was delighted when these came out in clip-on form. They are very accurate, though a little big, and are rivaled only by Peterson Software for the iPhone or iPad. I rarely use my dedicated flip tuner anymore, just at string changing time. Pricy, this one is no substitue for a "quick and dirty" tuning with a small, cheap peghead tuner, which are a pain to lose, but do not occasion a bankruptcy or forclosure.

I love this thing. Super convenient and way better resolution than your standard footpedal or rack tuner. I thought i was going to be dizzy the first time i used it but i got used to it. Excellent product

I owned a peterson strobe tuner 20+ years ago. They STILL are KING! The stroboclip is simply the pinnacle of clip-ons. BTW, I also saw STEVE MARTIN in an online vid. HE HAS ONE TOO!

This thing is incredible.

I cannot stress to anyone adequately how much I love this tuner. Years ago I wasn't a fan of headstock tuners, because I doubted their accuracy. Then Peterson churns out this amazing product that is just as accurate and precise as their software/pedals. There are a myriad of instruments and presets to be had in this little gem. For instance, I primarily use this guy for my acoustics (With Eb as my standard preset) but I also find it very useful for my Resonator and also for exotic, open tunings. I love this thing so much, I purchased 2!

well, this is awkward...

I totally agree with these other comments. I got mine and tested it against my friends $750 Peterson strobe tuner - they matched exactly. It even picks up the low E string
