Pocket Truss Rod Wrenches

About This Item

Pocket-size steel hex wrenches that fit in your guitar case. The 1-1/8" (28.58mm) socket is tapered to fit into recessed truss rod access cavities.

For 5/16" Gibson and other hex truss rod nut sizes.

Our veteran guitar technicians developed these high quality steel truss rod wrenches for the repair shop. The length, durability, and variety of sizes let you perform truss rod adjustments efficiently.

Not all truss rod cavities are the same width. Make sure the wrench will fit your cavity by comparing the outer diameter of the wrench barrel to your guitar.

Wrench Outer diameter
#6104 For 1/4" nut 0.385" (9.78mm)
#6105 For 9/32" nut 0.405" (10.29mm)
#6106 For 5/16" nut 0.436" (11.07mm)

These tools are available in our money-saving Truss Rod Wrench Set.

Good quality and perfect fit

I bought this to adjust the truss rod on a Westerly US made (in 2000) Guild Starfire IV and it fits and works perfect. It feels like great quality and durable steel. Thanks for a great replacement tool Stew Mac! Two thumps up!

Worked on Peavey T-20 Bass Truss Rod

I needed a thin walled 5/16" socket for old Peavey T-20 bass and this item worked perfectly on the truss rod.

The right size, wrong length.

This was almost perfect except that I had mill down the spiky end so that it could fit the pocket enough to actually grasp the nut and be able to slide it on. If you don't want to scrape any finish, it's best to really get it polished down after filing it. Now, not every guitar under a certain brand or the thousands of copies are the same so you may or may not have that problem.

Overall, I wish it wasn't so hard to find a nut driver wrench in this size. It's a bit on the spendy side for a little wrench that you may have to modify. Try telling a customer that if they want their own truss rod wrench that it costs $17 just to get it, and possibly more if you want to charge them to machine it. just trying to make something off it is difficult when you feel like it's already over-priced.

Overall, I am glad I found one in the correct gauge. I would just be nice if it didn't have any extra story to it beyond the ridiculous price. $9 for the wrench and around $8 to ship something so tiny. Mind you, I'm in the continental US and not in a rural area.

Works  perfectly on my Peavey T-27 neck truss

Peavey doesn't sell the truss rod tool anymore so I tried lots of different things to fit the truss nut and glad I finally found this. Probably works on all 1980's Peavey T-## models.

Just what I needed.

I had a Gibson Explorer Baritone guitar in the shop. The cutout for the truss rod adjustment was too narrow and there was not enough clearance between the cavity and the nut to use my standard 5/16" truss rod wrench. The shape and angle on this wrench was perfect for making the adjustment.

Not For PRS (USA)

Technically the right size, but doesn't fit the hole to reach the truss rod for an American made PRS (mine is a custom 24). Looks like I'll have to get the expensive PRS one...

Fits Carvin necks

This 1/4" truss rod wrench fits Carvin necks (mine is a B4 from 2000). I wish it had a screwdriver built into the end like the wrench that Carvin supplied, but oh well.

1/4" truss rod hex wrench.

By

Verified Buyer

My new (used) Carvin has a 1/4 " hex truss truss rod nut, which I find rather rare. My Gibsons and other Carvins have a 5/16th. My PRS and others use allen wrenches. StewMac is the only place I could find with the 1/4" wrench, and I sure am glad they carry them! Works perfectly and securely.

Excellent tool, extremely well made. Equal in quality to Snap On Tools. Fits into my Gibson guitars truss rod slot perfectly. Nice Long handle for good leverage. Searched for truss rod wrenches at my local guitar shops and on line, none equaled this quality. I highly recommend this tool.
