Guitar Tech Screwdriver Set

A drawer full of tools in the palm of your hand!

  • 36-bit set specifically for guitar hardware
  • Compact no-spill case, only 5" long
  • Only at StewMac!

If there's a set of tools every guitar tinkerer will love and use every day in the shop and on tour, this one has gotta be it! A great gift for shopmates, bandmates and guitar collectors.

This set is a must-have! Be ready for practically any hardware on any guitar, from tuners to bridges, tremolos to pickguards, pickups to tailpieces, and more.

The Guitar Tech Screwdriver Set replaces a whole drawer full of tools. We've included 36 essential bits for fretted instrument hardware, plus an easy-grip handle with extender. The entire set comes in a durable compact spill-proof latching hard case that fits nicely into your toolbox or guitar case (take it along to your next playing gig).

You won't find it at the hardware megamart, or anywhere else but here at StewMac.

6 Phillips bits: 000 • 00 • 0 • 1 • 2 • extra 1
11 Allen bits: .050" • 1/16" • 5/64" • 1/8" • 5/32" • 1.5mm • 2.0mm • 2.5mm • 3.0mm • 3.5mm • 4.0mm
11 flat-blade bits: 0.8mm • 1.2mm • 1.5mm • 1.8mm • 2.0mm • 2.5mm • 3.0mm • 3.5mm • 4.0mm • 5.0mm • extra 3.0mm
Capture bit: 5.0mm non-slip flat-blade bit helps protect small screws and finished surfaces. A StewMac exclusive!

"The capture bit in this set is freakin' awesome! How many times have I had to fix a ding because my old driver slipped."
—Mark Dalton, Huss & Dalton Guitar Co
Adapter for 1/4" sockets: use with your socket set to install tuners and jacks
Mini wire brush: remove corrosion from bridge saddles and more
Awl point: mark starter holes for drill bits
Hardened screw starters: #2 • #3 • #4 • #5; pre-thread screw holes in wood

The 4-1/2" easy-grip handle has a rotating cap for fingertip control. It's red, so it won't get lost on a crowded benchtop. The interchangeable steel bits snap easily into the magnetic shaft, and a handy 1-3/8" extender gives extra reach when you need it.

The latching custom hard case is a mere 5" long, and fits conveniently into a guitar case or gig bag pocket—great for backstage setups and emergency repairs on the road. The case holds the bits snug so they won't spill out. Sizes are marked on the bits, and a handy chart in the case lid helps keep everything organized and easy to identify at a glance.

I have big fingers; the compact form factor of this set does cause me some fidgeting to get them out.
However, this simple tip will help others, as this works with quite a few of the bits in the set, and possibly gives access to the ones that are along-side those:
Many of the bits can be lifted out of the container by taking the spinner handle and bringing it down over-top of the bit - it will magnetically hold in the hex shaft, and let you bring it up, pull it out, turn it 180-degrees around, put it in and use it. And if it's one of the larger ones which don't fit inside the hex shaft of the handle, maybe lifting a smaller bit beside the one you need as above will let your fingers get hold of the one you're after...

The set is great; I've been using it a lot since I got it, as the tips seem to be extremely well sized.
Special nod to the capture bit - I had this idea back in the eighties but had no way of bringing it to reality. I wanted one for the wood-screw Floyd Rose pivot post/studs. Glad to see this has been made available (as well as the large format one elsewhere in the catalogue).
Another special nod to the screw starters; I've made good use of them, and can't say enough good things about how great it is to control the application of threading in this manner.
I'm thinking I'll get a second set as a traveller, plus leave the first one on my bench... plus I've added the extra handle and a couple of spare capture bits.

Handy Dandy Set

I agree that this is a very handy little set. As others have mentioned it is hard for big fingers to grab the bits. The only other issue is don't drop it! It is no fun picking up the 35+ little bits and putting them back in the case-trust me on this. Whenever I use it I always put it where I can't knock it over; and when transporting I put a rubber band around it to prevent accidental opening. Other than that it is a very handy guitar tool indeed.

This is one TINY set

THE GOOD... has a lot of bits a guitar tech needs, but not all. This is a small set that easily fits in the palm of your hand. Case is aluminum with a press latch that pops the case open. The capture flathead bit is great. Wish there was two of them.

THE BAD... Normal fingers aren't small enough to lift some of the bits out of the case due to being tighty packed close together. I'm attempting using a small neodymium magnet on the end of the screwdriver handle as a means to get bits out (see pic). The magnet is a little too strong to make this method reliable, but it's better than having to grab a needle nose pliers to pull out a bit.

Good little kit but only 4 stars for the crowded case.
