Details

Power and versatility for precision routing without bogging down. Our most powerful outfit for production inlay work, saddle slotting, purfling channel routing and more.

The complete set includes our versatile Precision Router Base, Foredom® Flexible-shaft Power Tool, custom handpiece, motor hanger and handpiece rest.

Close-tolerance accuracy: The Foredom handpiece is custom-threaded to fit Our Precision Router Base, for accurate depth control.

Heavy-duty power: Foredom's strong 1/6-horsepower ball-bearing motor with 33" flexible shaft delivers the power you need for smooth routing in hardwoods without bogging down.

For lots of jobs: This Foredom/Router Base combo fits our jigs for bridge saddle slotting and soundhole rosette channels.

Easy control over your work: The flexible shaft keeps the motor out of your way, for easy router base control and good work visibility. Use the handpiece for freehand grinding and shaping, too.

The height-adjustable motor hanger clamps easily to the edge of your workbench, and includes a convenient handpiece rest for when you're not working. The hanger can hold two Foredoms, too—a handy feature that saves setup time in a busy shop.

Custom handpiece includes 1/8" and 3/32" collets to fit our router bits. The motor has a convenient foot control, for variable speeds up to 18,000 rpm while leaving your hands free to work.

Specifications:
#5328 and 5330 Foredom Power Tool is for domestic use. 115-volts AC, 60Hz, 1.7 amps. It has a U.S. standard Type B plug with two flat parallel prongs and a grounding pin.

#5329 and 5331 Foredom Power Tool is for international use. 230-volts AC, 50Hz, 0.9 amps. It has international plug CEE 7/7 (compatible with Type E and F receptacles) with two round prongs and two grounding clips on the sides and female contact to accept the grounding pin.

Inlay-Gadda-Da-Vida

This continues to be a great investment for me. If you do any inlay work whatsoever, buy the Foredom for your bench. You have much better torque, control, and stability, especially when routing at lower RPMs. I still use my Dremel with the Stewmac precision router base for odd jobs. You will not regret your purchase of this great tool.

Expensive with shiping and customs tax but worth it better than a screaming dremmel

Power and Precision

I regularly torment myself when purchasing tools. Do I get what will do the task passably or spend more and get the tool that will allegedly be a joy to use, only to find it was way over rated? In this instance I bit the bullet. First task was routing a saddle slot. Completed the job with ease and had one of those rare smiley moments when you know a purchase is worthwhile. If I can fault the Foredom it would be to say the hanging stand is a bit flimsy and I would prefer it was taller. That being said, this was a purchase I do not regret making.

Should have bought this years ago. So much more power and torque! Bits stay cooler, plastic cuts better, lightweight handpiece more comfortable and maneuverable. Very high quality, will probably outlast me.

The ultimate small power tool

If you are serious about inlay work and other precision routing routing jobs, spend the extra money and get this outfit. It has the power needed to get the work done without the screaming effort that smaller hand routers subject you to. The foot pedal is wonderful to have and the precision base completes the package to perfection. This is a true professional's tool that is superior in every way. Highly recommended.

Buy It right now. The Stew-Mac Foredom handpiece with the router base is the best of the best. Leaps and bounds more control and feel than when used with the dremel! I own the Bosch Colt, 4 Dremels, a Festool router, Bishop Cochran base, etc and this is my favorite detail tool!
