Carbide Downcut Inlay Router Bits

About This Item

The best for inlay work and saddle slotting!
Solid carbide lasts far longer than steel, and reverse spiral flutes cut downward for cleaner, "no fuzz" edges in routed cavities.

To use our 1/8"-shank bits in your laminate trimmer's 1/4" collet, see our #5246 Adapter Collet.

Length 1-1/2" (38.10mm)
Shank diameter 1/8" (3.18mm)

Use the larger bits for removing wood in the middle of your inlay work, and save the fine bits for the fine details. The fine detail bits are fragile, for routing intricate details only.

Item Primary use Width of cut Depth of cut
5154 For inlay routing and bridge saddle slots 1/8" (0.1250", 3.18mm) 3/8" (0.375", 9.53mm)
5153 For inlay routing and bridge saddle slots 3/32" (0.0938", 2.38mm) 1/4" (0.250", 6.35mm)
5152 For fine detail inlay routing 1/16" (0.0625", 1.59mm) 3/16" (0.188", 4.78mm)
5151 For fine detail inlay routing 3/64" (0.0469", 1.19mm) 1/8" (0.125", 3.18mm)
5150 For fine detail inlay routing 1/32" (0.0313", 0.79mm) 1/8" (0.125", 3.18mm)

I bought this for my shop and they work great

Excellent Bit but be CAREFUL!

By

This bit does a great job on all woods and pearl/abalone, but you must be very careful that your cutting depth is not more than 1/32" per pass. If you try to cut more than 1/32" or apply any pressure to speed it up it WILL break.

great for doing inlay of inlace in plywood substrate.

Bought these bits to use in a dremel tool in my stew-mac router base. Needed the down cut and carbide to get clean cuts in plywood. Worked great, couldn't be happier.

I use these bits all the time in my Makita Palm router to make custom wood signs. i couldn't do it without them. A great product I just wish they were a little cheaper...

Does what is advertised

Cuts easily and makes a nice groove in the wood. One drawback is the 1/16th is so thin that if you try to cut to deeply to fast, it breaks. Works great to make 1.4mm purfling groove!

Response from StewMac

Hi Steven,
Thank you for your feedback. This is a very common issue that a lot of folks run into. To ensure these router bits won't break, we recommend making multiple passes, cuting only as deep as the bit's width in a single pass. For more tips on keeping these router bits from breaking, you can watch the video above on this webpage.

Top quality for the price

Cuts very clean, no fuzz or tear out. When it gets dull later, BUY a new one so your cuts will continue being excellent!

The first item I ordered was the dremel plunging accessory. There was a part missing, so I left a message on their answering machine, being a Sunday, .I got the part Tuesday. When I told my friend about this he asked me to get him one too. Absolutely the best service I have ever had. Thanks StuMac. We will be doing business again in the very near future.

Exactly as described online. Came to me in a timely manner. Has held up beautifully through a couple of projects so far where it has been put through a bit of abuse.
