Carbide Downcut Inlay Router Bits

About This Item

The best for inlay work and saddle slotting!
Solid carbide lasts far longer than steel, and reverse spiral flutes cut downward for cleaner, "no fuzz" edges in routed cavities.

To use our 1/8"-shank bits in your laminate trimmer's 1/4" collet, see our #5246 Adapter Collet.

Length 1-1/2" (38.10mm)
Shank diameter 1/8" (3.18mm)

Use the larger bits for removing wood in the middle of your inlay work, and save the fine bits for the fine details. The fine detail bits are fragile, for routing intricate details only.

Item Primary use Width of cut Depth of cut
5154 For inlay routing and bridge saddle slots 1/8" (0.1250", 3.18mm) 3/8" (0.375", 9.53mm)
5153 For inlay routing and bridge saddle slots 3/32" (0.0938", 2.38mm) 1/4" (0.250", 6.35mm)

Nice set of bits

I've been using these since I bought them as a set. It's been about 2 weeks, and I haven't broken any yet. The cuts are smooth, and easy to do if you follow the instructions.

Definitely an improvement over HSS bits.

These bits cut much quicker and cleaner than the HSS bits, they also have no noticeable flex in the shaft as compared to the HSS bits which bend slightly when you push them into the work to fast. The HSS bits are not bad bits and are perhaps a good choice for those on a budget but if you do any significant amount of inlay I'd recommend investing in these bits.

"F" hole, YES!

By

Use the 1/8" bit as a pattern router bit. When used with the Stew Mac Precision Router base and your Dremmel on its highest speed to cut a perfect F hole every time. No CNC, Pin Router or any special tools needed. I spent many hours trying to figure out how cut a flawless F hole and got one on the first try. Stew mac I don't know if this is part of a standard procedure but to me its the very best way for me to cut this problematic hole. Blues Legend Guitars thanks you!

Very pleased with the way these bits cut. From routing the rosette to inlay on the fingerboard these bits help me get very clean smooth cuts.

use carefully, smoothly and with precision! the bit cuts nicely but be sure to run at high speed, preferably around 25k-30k rpm. slower speeds cause it to catch, surge and wander even with a firm grip.
