Product Details

These custom bearings work with our Binding Router Bit for precise control of the depth of cut.

They're available in 19 different sizes (.010"/.25mm increments), so you'll be able to rout precise ledges for practically any binding combinations.

#1298-000 Flush bearing is for trimming glued bindings, and newly assembled guitar tops and backs.

Choose the bearings you need for specific jobs, or see our money-saving Binding Router Bit Set.

Tip: All our bearings are now sized for exact cutting depth. Remember to allow for swelling of wood fibers from gluing, as well as for the thickness of the glue itself. Glued plastic binding will swell considerably as it absorbs the glue solvents. Wood bindings glued with wood glues that contain water will swell also. To minimize final scraping and sanding, we recommend installing a short length of binding on routed scrap wood first, to test the fit.

Find the right size bearing for your binding:
Measure the bearing diameter with a dial caliper and use
this chart to find the size ledge your bearing will cut.

Great Quality

These are fantastic bearings. Great quality, they don't mar the edge of the guitar, and they are a perfect fit for stew macs bindings.

Perfect Job Every Time

By Bill from Puyallup from Puyallup WA
(Customer's Reviews) Thursday, August 04, 2011

Your bearings make easy work of cutting binding/purfling channels. I purchased the .90 bearing and cut my channel using your binding bit. A perfect match and perfect job first time around. Binding fit the channel perfectly. Depth and Height was spot on and there was no need to re-cut, although I did pass along the channel a 2nd time to make sure it was uniform. It was. The extra wide bearing surface allowed for easy travel around the perimeter of the instrument. If you have a binding job, than by all means these bearings, along with the bit, make the perfect binding team and take the worry out of routing binding channels.

When they say .070", they mean .070"! Great and easy to use/install.

This was every thing I hoped for. It works quite well, and the many bearing sizes make it a pleasure to use.

It's great that you have all different size bearings to chose from. They work well with stew/mac router bits.

Worth the price!

By B. Jesson from Chandler, AZ, USA
(Customer's Reviews) Wednesday, February 02, 2011

I have found out that I was doing things the hard way. I started using these bearings with the Stew-Mac router bit and binding channels only take minutes to cut perfectly. The depth of cut is a little bigger then listed but the binding material is usually thicker then listed as well so it all comes out precise in the end.

Be careful ...

By Jeff Fortenbery from Cincinnati, OH
(Customer's Reviews) Thursday, November 11, 2010

The new thicker bearings are improved over the old ones, providing better reach below the purfling channel and a smoother surface for less burning. Be careful, though, as Stew Mac's method of sizing has recently changed. These have proven to be good quality bearings. I've only worn out two.

This bearing has held up well with moderate use. I haven't had any problem with seizing or burning with it
