The Best Cello Peg Reamer

By Robert Dennis from Fayetteville, GA
(Customer's Reviews) Tuesday, September 09, 2014

For me, this tool was very expensive and l've debated purchasing it for some time. I read all the reviews and decided to go for it. The tool is just beautifully made. I have never used a better peg reamer. And yes the handle is not equal to the reamer, but I have made a new ebony handle and the tool is now as beautiful as it is functional.

Excellent.

I bought this item along with the peg shaver and the two match perfectly. It was my first time using either piece of equipment and it couldn't have been easier. A little on the expensive side but good value for money if you plan to use it on a few instruments.

The Price of Perfection

By Harlen D. from Kansas

Other reviewers are spot on. This reamer is a fine precision tool. Works flawlessly. The price leaves me feeling a little reamed as well, but hey, I'll give Stew Mac the benefit of the doubt and say I guess you "get what you pay for". Good tool - good vendor.

Key tool, high cost.

By Jon from California
(Customer's Reviews) Friday, September 13, 2013

This is a key tool for completing a guitar. Cleans out peg holes, extra paint, gunk, etc. it will slightly open a hole too. I have yet to get a burr. It does not chatter. This is one tool you will use often, and will be pleased with the result every time. But the cost is exceptionally high, and the only reason it gets a 4 instead of a 5.

Wow! quel outil indispensable. Dommage qu'il soit si cher, mais c'est vraiment un outil professionnel. Emmener en des guitares LOL je n'ai plus aucun problFme pour alTser des trous de clTs sans endommager le manche.

Peghole reamer just the thing to fit Golden Age bushings to vintage Gibson mandolin

By Corrie Lochan Music from Alpine County, CA
(Customer's Reviews) Wednesday, July 24, 2013

The original bushings in my 1920 Gibson A3 mandolin were tapered and went into cylindrical holes. The new Golden Age bushings are cylindrical and larger, so they won't enter the old holes. Use it carefully from the front of the peghead and the peghole reamer opens up the holes just enough and leaves a gentle taper so the new bushings go in with a secure press fit.

Excellent!

I needed to enlarge some tuner holes on a build. I first used sandpaper wrapped around a pen. Didn't work too well. I caved and bought this. It's expensive but worked like a charm. Perfect round holes. You need to go gently and check your fit often. It takes material off quickly.

Very precise reamer. A bit pricey but does the job.

Excellent tool for the job

By Tommy M from Rochester, NY

I decided to change the friction tuners on an old tenor banjo. This reamer made the task very easy. I had never replaced tuning pegs before and I found this tool made doing so easy.

Nearly Perfect!!!

By Blindrobert from Austin, TX
(Customer's Reviews) Monday, December 03, 2012

Love this tool, it cuts super cleanly and is razor sharp. Perfect for ukulele tuners! My only complaint (and this is minor) is that I would like a bit more shank length between the handle and the top of the cutting blade - it's a bit cramped at the top for those of us with large hands and I end up cutting my fingers now and then.
