Peghead Bushing Reamers

About This Item

Be ready for any tuner installation! Our custom-sized counterbore reamers ensure that your press-fit tuner bushings will fit correctly.

Before you install press-fit tuner bushings, be sure they'll fit correctly, so your tuners will work efficiently. Too tight, and they can chip the peghead finish or crack the wood. Too loose, and they can rattle or fall out. Our custom reamers cut a clean, accurate counterbore for a professional job.

Designed for slow-speed use in your drill press, each steel reamer is 2-3/4" (69.85mm) overall length, with a 1/4"-diameter (6.35mm) pilot and two 1" (25.40mm) cutting flutes.

The #2062 bushing reamer with .340" diameter is made for bushings on Waverly Guitar Tuning Machines.

The #2061 bushing reamer with .328" diameter is made for bushings on Waverly Mandolin Tuning Machines.

Important: Please measure your tuner bushings before your order a reamer. Most tuner and bushing measurements are available on stewmac.com product pages.

Sharp and accurate, without any of the tearing associated with standard drill bits - a really clean hole for your bushes.

Clean and accurate

I purchased a peghead bushing reamer for my mandolin project. The mistake that I made was to drill a 6mm holes rather than a 1/4" hole and the reamer got a bit warm! No harm done though and a nice clean accurate set of holes were reamed perfectly.

These are the ticket for accurate bushing holes

It's almost impossible to drill a properly sized neat hole for tuner bushings using a regular drill bit. These make the job so easy, and the bushings fit perfectly.

Reamers!!!!

Drilling holes for tuners has always been a pain. With different manufacturers and changing dimensions, drilling is a time consuming and nerve-racking process. The Peghead Reamers take the stress off the process. If you have a shop or are a serious luthier, BUY THIS!!! I can't tell you how much time I saved! Did I mention how clean the holes come out too...

Nice tool, I like the control it adds, even when used in a hand drill. But you need a .442 or .443. .440 is too tight when working with very hard wood as was the case with my maple neck. Pressing the bushings was a little bit more challenging than it needed to be. This is quarter sawn maple, so the potential for splitting was very real. Luckily that didn't happen. A slightly larger diameter reamer would be just the thing for this type of situation.

Great tools. Simple and accurate, but to be complete the set needs an off-sized reamer of .380

Wow!

I bought the whole set of these bushing reamers - this week I had two mandolins and a very old uke banjo in for repair and new tuners . One was an ancient bowl back 'neapolitan' mandolin. I bought new tuners and one of these cut the bushings so perfectly I was awe struck - bit of masking tape around the bit to give me an accurate depth check and it cut so fine. Just perfect. Not sure you can see it in this picture but it is perfect.
