Pocket Truss Rod Wrenches

About This Item

Pocket-size steel hex wrenches that fit in your guitar case. The 1-1/8" (28.58mm) socket is tapered to fit into recessed truss rod access cavities.

For 5/16" Gibson and other hex truss rod nut sizes.

Our veteran guitar technicians developed these high quality steel truss rod wrenches for the repair shop. The length, durability, and variety of sizes let you perform truss rod adjustments efficiently.

Not all truss rod cavities are the same width. Make sure the wrench will fit your cavity by comparing the outer diameter of the wrench barrel to your guitar.

Wrench Outer diameter
#6104 For 1/4" nut 0.385" (9.78mm)
#6105 For 9/32" nut 0.405" (10.29mm)
#6106 For 5/16" nut 0.436" (11.07mm)

These tools are available in our money-saving Truss Rod Wrench Set.

Correct Tool for 1982 Peavey T-45 Bass 5/16 inch Truss Rod

By

I had a straight long-handle tool designed for Truss Rods, but it would not fit into the cavity on the headstock, even with all of the tuners removed. The tunnel is curved, and the straight tool could not align with the truss rod nut, even though it is less than an inch inside the tunnel. This L-shaped wrench reached right in and successfully turned the nut. I got the 5/16 inch size, which was recommended for my 1982 Peavey T-45 Bass . This wrench is not large, but it is sturdy enough to exert a lot of force if it is needed.

Perfect for Peavey T40 and T60!!!!!

The bullet shape fits perfectly in the truss rod cavity. Recommend all who own these vintage instruments to procure this tool.

Doesn't work for USA PRS

By

Bought the 5/16 wrench to keep in my PRS' case, as it did not come with a wrench when I bought it used. I am sure it works as intended for most instruments, however this wrench (Top in photo) wouldn't even fit inside the truss rod access cavity of my PRS. It is much to long and the acorn shape top makes it awkward to fit in small areas. *Photo shows comparison with a Gibson 5/16th truss wrench*

Buy it. It works

The Stew Mac reps are great. I shopped every hardware store in town. Big, small, I shopped them all to save a few dollars.

I tried every one of the tools at my house, to make one neck adjustment.

Then I called Stew Mac. I ordered the wrench. I put it on the bass. I adjusted the neck. The neck is now fine. It took all of 5 mins to make the correct adjustment.

But, I had to have the right tool. This worked great.

Thank you.

If you own a Peavey T-40 bass and can't get your hands on one of the original elusive truss rod wrenches for them (nearly impossible to find) these are a perfect fit!

Fits Gibson Acoustics Too!!

Even though the description only seems to list electric guitars, this tool fits Gibson Acoustic guitars perfectly as well. Great tool and small enough to put in my case.

Great little set of wrenches!

Had a '64 Gibson Melody Maker D in need of a truss adjust and none of my 5/16" sockets would fit, too thick to grasp the nut. Enter the StewMac Wrench Set. Fantastic compact set for the shop or in your guitar case. Fits like a glove in the Gibson. And the price, IMHO, isn't too over the top. Thanks again StewMac!
