Depth-stop Drill Bits, Complete set of 7

Stop breaking off small screws! When that little tuner mounting screw breaks off, you'll wish you'd used the right size drill bit!

Here's a versatile 7-piece mini bit set for avoiding catastrophes when you're installing tuners, pickguards, string trees, truss rod covers, pickup rings, and more. The closely spaced sizes let you choose exactly the right bit, a must for installing diabolically small screws in hardwoods such as maple, ebony and rosewood. As a bonus, each bit is color-coded with a handy movable plastic depth stop (you don't want to accidentally drill completely through your peghead, do you?)

SAVE when you order the complete set of 7

Here's a tip from our R&D luthiers:
If a depth stop sleeve loosens over time, remove it and put a little #10 thin super glue inside. Turn the sleeve to coat the inside evenly and tighten the inside diameter. Not too much glue—don't clog the sleeve. Apply a little paste wax to the bit and push it through the sleeve. You can spray a dash of super glue accelerator for a faster glue cure. The depth stop will fit like new again!

Tip for loose sleeves

(Customer's Reviews)

I had a similar issue with the loose sleeves. For most jobs the bit should be inserted into the drill with the sleeve pressed up against the shank so that the sleeve cannot slip any further "up" the drill bit itself. You can then see the depth on the drill bit for what you are drilling into. For sleeves that are very loose after extended use and slip "down"the drill bit, use a small drop of super glue on the shaft to keep the sleeve attached.

Good, but please label the bits

(Customer's Reviews)

These work very well. My only two gripes are a) the price seems a bit steep for 7 bits, and b) I had to measure and label the bits myself. My labels are paper stuck on the plastic stop, and won't last very long.

I'm really glad to have the bits in between normal sizes. Seems like it's always one of those that I need.

I noticed some frustration in other reviews. It's not important if the stop is pretty loose on the bit. Slightly inconvenient maybe. The "stop" isn't the plastic, but the fact that the plastic butts up against the drill chuck. Now if the stop is fairly tight, you can turn and push it into position, and it stays there while you insert the bit into the chuck. That's where a little (very little) superglue helps.

Really useful

(Customer's Reviews)

First of all I'd like to congratulate you (again), for the excellent service! The depth-stop drill bits work fine and, though a simple idea, great execution. Pity it is not made for bigger bits...
