D'Addario Planet Waves Acoustic Guitar Humidifier

About This Item

Here's an affordable way to help protect your guitar and avoid expensive repair jobs. Helps prevent body cracks in acoustic guitars under dry conditions.

Suspended by the strings (without touching the instrument), the humidifier contains leak-resistant open-cell foam that releases moisture slowly and evenly inside the guitar. Just add water when needed.

Moisturize!

The dry heat of Winter can do a number on the wood of a guitar. These Humidifiers work great and with little fuss. I have had the first iteration of this style of sound-hole humidifier. It required a syringe to fill the reservoir. This style has a pop-off lid for ease of use. The earlier style worked well inside of a guitar case keeping the interior of the body at the right humidity, while also working on the neck and fretboard.
Even if you don't own a pricey guitar, you don't want to get splits in the top or fretboard. Easily stored inside a case when ambient humidity returns. I usually recharge with H2O every week or two throughout the heating season. Makes a nice gift for the guitarist you know.

Good back up

I purchased a couple of the Plant Waves Humidifier to place in the vintage acoustic guitars I own as a back up to a room humidifier. The units work great and only complaint is adding water, I have to let them sit till any extra water drips out.

can't be too careful

I live at 8500' in the Colorado Rockies. 17% humidity is a big deal here in winter. So all of my quality stuff has humidifiers, and now I'm equipping smaller but sensitive instruments, like Mandolins, Ouds, Violas, in their cases, with humidifiers, even if they don't fit between the strings. A sealed case is its own environment. And I hate fixing cracks in the back.

so I figured that for 20$ ea. I can get a sponge that won't drip, will double the humidity and make everybody happy.

Not sure I like it.

I used it on 3 guitars and when I got them out of the cases, the necks had extreme convex bows. Scared the heck out of me. Luckily, they went back to normal in a few days. My guitars have been in many different climates, humidity and altitudes and the only time I ever had an extreme bow like that, was on a Bass after it rained and the humidity went to probably 100%. The bass wasn't in the rain just outside under a tent. So I don't use these Humidifiers anymore.

Best when used with activation solution

Just what I needed for maintaining humidity on an older ovation. I prefer using with an activation solution to maintain longer moisture retention.

Very good

This humidifier works great, and it is easy to re-soak the sponge. It is also $5.00-$10.00 cheaper here than at a store.
