Camless Clamp

About This Item

Special clamps for tight spots! Space-saving wooden clamps for controlled clamping pressure.

Here's a solution when multiple cam clamps must be closely spaced around a curved edge, and the cam levers interfere with each other: we've simply replaced the cam lever with a thumbscrew. A camless clamp!

The camless clamp allows tighter placement with easier operation and finer control of clamping pressure.

These high quality clamps are made of hardwood and steel, for years of daily use. The jaws have protective cork lining. The small clamp has 4-1/2" (114.3mm) depth; the large clamp is 8-1/2" (215.90mm) deep. Both sizes open to 8-1/4" (209.55mm) and have a width of 15/16" (23.81mm).

Great clamp

I bought 18 of these and they work great. I had to handle them carefully due to their larger size but once you get the hang of it it's easy.

These work great when you need a larger clamp opening and a longer reach at the same time. Even though I have many, many styles and sizes of clamps I still found uses when only the large 8 1/2" throat camless clamps worked.

Carless clamps. Excellent for guitar building

I bought 3 carless clamps for use when glueing tops and backs to my guitars. I have many cam clamps but these apply plenty of clamping pressure plus allowing for more clamps. Absolutely love them.

These clamps fit in tight places as well as near edges.

I first bought a set of four (4) large Camless Clamps to complement my set of six (6) used 6" cam clamps passed along to me by another guitar builder. I also had purchased two (2) large and two (2) small German cam clamps from another supplier for brace gluing/clamping. But when faced with gluing the lower bout back braces on a curly maple jumbo back, I didn't want to have the long cam clamp bodies hanging off the back plate while the TiteBond dried. I chose to postpone my gluing operation until the four (4) new small Camless clamps arrived by mail. They were very helpful in securing a tight glue joint at the ends of the braces without being overly heavy and unwieldy at the edge of the back plate. The old craftsman's adage remains true: "You can't have too many clamps." -- G.J. Link

Really great!

I've become a huge fan of these camless clamps. You can dial in the exact pressure which is an excellent improvement on the original cam lamp design. Using them for all sorts of repairs and projects in my shop.

Good clamps for small guitars and ukes

Used these to reglue a bridge on a tenor uke. Had to make a couple modifications so they would fit through the sound hole but they filled the bill perfectly. I especially like the screw adjustment rather than the cam style. You can add the exact pressure you need.

Camless Clamps

These are by far my favorite clamps for guitar work. You can dial the exact pressure you need for the job. Here's how I used them this morning to reglue the bridge on an Epiphone SST.

Accurate clamp

These cam clamps are extremely suitable for guitar building, as one can adjust the clamping pressure to suit the application. Normal cam clamps have one setting, which is "tight!". This clamp applies only the pressure that you select and adjust it to.
