Fisch Brad Point Drill Bits

About This Item

Clean holes with no chip-out. Install tuning machines, bridge studs, inlay dots and other hardware with professional results.

Certain hardware installation jobs demand precision that standard twist bits can't provide, especially on finished wood surfaces. Brad point bits help eliminate chipping on wood and finishes—a real plus for a clean, professional job.

Precision-machined Fisch chrome vanadium steel bits are the most accurate we've used. The ground brad point helps prevent "walking" on smooth surfaces.

Great bits

Very sharp, well made bits. I used them for cutting the recess on a bass bow adjuster.

Not good for pearl dot inlays sold by StewMac

The 6mm drill bit is not exact. It's roughly 5.9mm making the drilled hole too small for the 6mm pearl dot inlays from StewMac (the tenth of a mm makes a huge difference...especially if you make quality guitars.). The pearl dot inlays are nice - the drill bits are foreign made...and not precise.

Great Bits!

Very precise brad point bits. I needed a 1/4" bit to install some celluloid dot on an Epiphone fingerboard. The Epi dots are smaller so this worked perfect for that installation.

Cut well--sizing?

I have loved the ways these bits have cut since I bought them 18 months ago. Nice, clean, quick cuts. However, I recently was making a floating top coffee table suspended by 1/4" brass rods. I used the 1/4" bit from this set and I got loose connections. Pulled out my 1/4" DeWalt bit and got tight connections. I was disappointed that the bit from this set appears to be a tad oversized.

The best drill bits (really)

By

These are the very best drill bits I ever used: They cut hard wood just like butter, and, most important, the tip is really sharp, crisp and perfectily centered.
Living in Europe I bought the fractional set, but will order the metric one too.
