Micro-Mesh Soft Touch Pads

About This Item

Extra-gentle hand polishing for high-gloss finishes. Each pad features Micro-Mesh® resilient abrasive on both sides of a foam center. The cushioning allows gentle polishing of finished surfaces to a mirror gloss.

The set of nine pads includes #1500, 1800, 2400, 3200, 3600, 4000, 6000, 8000, and 12000 grits. Use the grits in sequence to achieve a super gloss.

Micro-Mesh features tiny abrasive crystals on resilient cloth-backed latex. These gentle "cushioned" particles generate less heat and friction than ordinary finishing papers, don't load up as quickly, and last up to 15 times longer.

Use Micro-Mesh Soft Touch Pads with a little soapy water as a lubricant to produce a scratch-free mirror shine (avoiding soaking the pads in water when not in use). We use these regularly in our own shops for finish touch-ups and repairing scratches on pickguards. Use them on for polishing frets, too.

Shiny Frets

By

I use these to shine frets.....easy and fast. I don't really need so many different grits for fret polishing, so it would be nice to be able to choose just the individual pads I want....ding one star. Other than that I am happy with this product.

These work well and hold up, last a long time

Bought the 2" set to smooth out an edge binding job. They worked well for that, and then used them for several other things including fret edges. So far, they haven't worn out.

Hardly need a buffer with these Pads

I used these on my latest project. After leveling the orange peel with 600 wet sand, I wet sanded sequentially with each pad. I start with the coarse and very lightly wet sanded with each finer grit. After the 12000 grit pad I barely needed to buff! Worth every dime!

These are my "Go To" sanding pads for many different jobs, including superglue repairs of plastic guitar finishes!!! These will bring a scuffed pickguard back from ruin, even without wet sanding!!! My last set has lasted me 5 years and still work very well!!! The key is to wash them with soap & water after each job...I love them!!!

Great overall product

I've only owned these for a little while, but they have so many uses in my day to day work! The only problem as a lot of other people were mentioning is that the colors are really similar... you can feel around it, but it would be a lot nicer if they were more clearly defined. I ended up writing the grit on the edges of each one with a sharpie so that I never confuse them.

Use them everyday!

This is my second set, using one for fret work and the other for finish work. As for the complaint about which color is which grit I marked the side of each one with a dot for the coarsest, 2 dots for the next, 3 for the next and so on.

My biggest complaint (hence the 4 stars) is the grit is wearing off the 2 lower grit pads leaving bare spots, otherwise I really like using these. Would love to see a set starting at a lower grit, say 800 and not go up as high, better for fretwork detailing where the highest grits are less useful.

Love these for so many jobs

These certainly aren't only for finishing or finish repairs. I use them for fret polishing as well as many other polishing type jobs. Great item and the color code chart is pretty accurate, not perfect so you've got to pay attention to the shades, but it's workable. I just need to figure out a good way to wash them after doing fret work because the oxidation (I guess that's what I'd call it) that transfers to the sanding pad gets kinda messy and if you're working with an unfinished maple fretboard you can easily make more work for yourself, not to mention it carries over to the next job. I'd buy them again though, they're priceless to me.
