3M Stikit Self-adhesive Abrasives

About This Item

Efficient, durable, economical! Countless uses in repair shops. Professional grade 3M Gold sandpaper with handy self-adhesive backing.

Stikit™ abrasives cut like a file, and last longer than regular sandpaper. The sharp aluminum oxide grit is slower to load up with sanding dust, too. Outstanding durability and performance have made Stikit the favorite in our own shops.

  • The right width for our radius-sanding tools
  • Attach to your benchtop for a fast non-slip surface
  • Handy for quick custom sanding blocks
  • Countless uses in repair shops
  • Convenient sets for fretwork/finishing and general woodworking

Stikit papers are supplied in 15-yard rolls (45 feet / 13.71 meters), an economical length for small shops.

The 2-3/4" (69.85mm) width is a perfect fit for our professional levelers:

4" Wooden Radius-sanding Blocks
8" Wooden Radius-sanding Blocks

Works on stainless frets, too!
All of our tools are suitable for use on stainless-steel fretwire, with the exception of our Fret Tang Nippers. Modern stainless-steel fretwire is known to be harder than the traditional nickel-silver blends, but our own shop experience indicates the wire does not cause premature wear of files or sandpapers.

Michael Greenfield of Greenfield Guitars explains clearly why it's critical to have properly shaped and sanded guitar bodies before you rout them for binding. Michael shared this great Trade Secret with us during the 2013 Northwoods Seminar last August.

Excellent

I've used 5 or 6 rolls of this sandpaper in various grits and it is a little pricey, but I guess the time it saves makes up the difference. It does work great and its perfect size for Stew/mac radius sanding blocks as well as sanding inside a guitar body, it will stick to your fingers or your hand. Great sandpaper for anywhere you can't hold on to your paper or for sticking to sanding jigs.

Weak adhesive

Poor 3M ! They made an excellent item but with weak adhesive. I tried to stick it on wood, but it was easy "peelable" if I may say so. Very expensive stuff compared to the same grit plain sandpaper with a strong double sided bond .

Love this stuff, have made many odd jigs to help sand my guitars etc. etc.

Not only is this good for you sanding block, but great for just sticking a section across your fingers for hand sanding.

Can't live withhout it

I've been using the 180 grit version of this tape for several years. It is fantastic. I cut it into multiple sizes and shapes for different jobs. I've been cutting strips to use on dished boards for sanding assembled sides into perfect fitting shape before attaching tops. But the 180 grip is sometimes slower than I'd like. The 120 is making the sanding work go faster.

Never use cheap sandpaper!

Easy way to keep your tools cutting cleanly and stayed in place on leveling bars & radius blocks making micro-leveling and reradiusing quick and easy.

Quality Abrasive that comes in a very hand format

By

3M Stikit is a very durable abrasive and it's a real pleasure to work with because you don't need a lot of pressure for best results. With a thin layer of self-adhesive carpet on your sanding block or stick it lasts forever without clogging.

Exactly what I needed for the job.

I wasn't 100% sure that I needed this. I used it yesterday with one of the wooden radius blocks, and now I wish I had bought this much sooner. It fits the SM blocks perfectly. I am going to get several more grits.

Great stuff; always works well for me.

Most of my guitar making involves hand work, meaning that most times I'd rather sand than cut. I find it safer, and I'm able control the outcome better.
