StewMac Guitar Bench Pad

About This Item

Grit-free work surface.
A quick brush or shake sweeps away filings and solder bits that cause scratches. The supple, dense polyisoprene is non-reactive and safe for guitar finishes.

It's tough enough to survive years of abuse. The non-slip surface won't slide around as you work.

"We tried every kind of material, looking for the perfect bench mat. We finally found it!"
—Erick Coleman, guitar repairman and StewMac tech advisor

Our Bench Pad is twice as thick as other mats, so your guitars are much better protected. Even the color was chosen for guitar work: unlike black surfaces, tiny parts and wood shavings show up clearly on this pad, so you know it’s time to sweep up!

Tip: Cut the mat into small grip pads for drill press tables or for use under sharpening stones. Great for holding vintage necks in a vise, too.

18" x 24" x 3/16" (457mm x 610mm x 4.76mm)

SAVE when you buy the Guitar Bench Pad with these neck supports:

StewMac Deadblow Neck Rest: a shock-absorbing support that conforms to fit any instrument on your bench. It solidly absorbs hammer blows during fretwork.

Rock-n-Roller Neck Rests: Set of 2 tilting, self-leveling contoured wooden neck cradles to fit any guitar or bass.

Deluxe Rock-n-Roller Neck Rest: Set of 2 solid hardwood cradles with soft cork for finish protection. This Deluxe version adds extra support cauls and the ability to clamp to your workbench.

Nice and heavy but wont hurt your finish. I have several others brands of these around the shop but they are going to get replaced with these. I wish I could buy a 50' roll of this stuff lol. :)

Used multiple to cover entire work top! Bit tough to brush clean.

I bought two of these and covered my work bench completely with them. Now the entire surface is padded. Best mat out there by far! It is perfect for all guitar repair because I can set anything down anywhere without worry. It is tacky enough that it doesn't move. I love it. My only beef is that it is hard to clean due to the open cell pore structure and the grippy surface. While this makes the pad great, things like dust and wood shavings from drilling are difficult to brush off. Brushing takes off 90%. This is a minor issue. To get it really clean, I just use some masking tape and dab off anything from time to time that I don't want on there. Little bits of solder can hang around and scratch so just be aware. I love it otherwise..

Really good bench pad.

This bench pad is so good I bought a second one for my other bench. Nice thick material. Easy to clean. Best part is that it almost 'sticks' to the bench and doesn't slide around. That's great for routering or sanding guitar bodies. A great product.

I really like this thing! Nice and soft. The only problem I have is trying to figure out where to keep it from getting dusty while I'm working on other woodworking projects.

Price is a little steep but, with the first restringing, I could see I had my money's-worth. Tabletop and guitar are protected from scratching, and the guitar does not slide around at all. Restringing is now an easy job for two hands. No need to wish for a third.

I purchased two pads. One for holding wooden pieces in place while sanding and one to hold water stones in place while sharpening chisel and plane irons. They both work better than other methods that I have tried.
