Schatten Knob and Bushing Puller

About This Item

This must-have "two-in-one" tool from Schatten Design applies a steady, controlled pull to safely remove them.

Stubborn hard-to-remove guitar knobs?
The Knob and Bushing Puller's clear acrylic housing has a rubberized base to help protect the guitar's finish. Includes hardware to easily extract Gibson, Schaller or Gotoh bridge and tailpiece stud bushings, without damaging the guitar.

For just removing standard knobs, consider a simple Knob Puller.

Tailpiece bushing removal tip:
In some cases, especially with Gibson guitars, the tailpiece bushings are installed before the guitar is finished. To avoid chipping the finish, we recommend scoring the bushing with a sharp knife. For stubborn bushings, careful heat from a soldering iron will help break them free.

Instructions and bolts for pulling various threads are included:
5/16-18
5/16-24
10-32

Awesome!

This tool is simple to use and works perfectly. I used it to pull the bushings from a Les Paul, and I was a little nervous about it. The instructions are good, and this is a very solid tool. No issues at all. If you need to pull bushings, this is well worth the money.

Mightily Handy Gizmo

One of the best tools ever produced, really! Made pulling out bushing studs glued hard into the body of a Les Paul Custom a breeze! Lack of an additional washer for larger calibre screws is a small nuisance, but can be easily remedied by visiting a local DIY store. Other than that, this is what you need - no point in torturing yourself and risking a dinged finish the old fashioned way. And the delivery via DHL was blazing fast, especially since it was international! Cheers StewMac!

After shearing the original zinc stud off trying the put a screw in upside down and screw the stud back in until the bushing pushes itself out method - I bought this... Got a nut on the broken stud, got this tool around it, pulled the bushing right out! very strong, buy it!

Wow, Worth Every Penny!

I was hesitant to throw down this many dollars for what looks like a very simple tool (the photos are less than impressive and don't do this tool justice). After wasting a number of hours trying to build my own and marring the top of my les Paul build, attempting to remove the bridge and tailpiece bushings, I coughed up the money and ordered the knob and bushing puller.
It arrived two days later, I opened the package, put it together and had all four bushings out in 5 minutes!!! Wow, what a great tool, it's worth every penny!
Way to go Stew-Mac, you've amazed me again!! My Favorite Company!!

Works a treat

After struggling for a while with what should be an easy and straight-forward task, I finally bought one. Saves time and works well. Could be a tad cheaper perhaps.

No washer to use the 5mm or 10-32 bolts included

A parts list would be nice so I know if something was missing, or what. I found a 1/4" large washer and a 3/16" large washer that fit inside the square tube. I like my old stud puller for 8mm, and 5/16 a bit better, but this does it all, and unless I am cramped for space will use this. Not sure if I would trust this on guitars with soft easily dented woods without a flat base plate under this. It is still darn cool! Usually I can pry most knobs off with my fingers, but it can get painful with those skirted Gibson top hat witch hat knobs, and even speed knobs.

Another cool StewMac tool!

Great little tool. Pricey? How much is your time worth, what if you damage the pickguard or finish, or break the knob trying to remove it with a prying tool? I recently used it while replacing some electronics and pick ups, well worth it. It is a little thick to put under the knobs, but unless your knobs are right on the surface it should work just fine. After years of using screwdrivers and blades I am sold on this tool.
