Titebond Original Wood Glue

About This Item

The luthier's favorite aliphatic resin glue, for joints that are stronger than the wood.

Water soluble, it cures overnight, sands easily, and resists thermoplastic "creep" better than ordinary white glues.

Shelf life is 12-24 months if stored in a cool, dry location. If the glue becomes thick and stringy in the bottle, this signifies that the glue is no longer usable.

Using three different glues: where and why?

Titebond or hide glue? Hot glue or bottled? Dan Erlewine uses three glues for this repair, and each has different properties. He explains why one glue can't cover all the bases. And he's created some pretty interesting cauls for clamping this job together while it dries!

Been using Titebond for years. Usually #2 but I got to thinking; Not too many of my guitars are going underwater so lets try #1. I know it is just as good as 2 so lets make any future repairs a little easier.

Basic wood glue

I used this on my replacement fret board and it worked great. I tried it on my Tusg replacement nut and it didn't hold at all. I used super glue and that has held so far. This is great for joing two woods together, but I would be hesitant to use it on nuts, saddles, or fret wire. Super glue works best on those items.

Strong and reliable

I am a pro luthier from Napoli - Italy and I have used this glue for long time.
It is a great overall glue. Strong and reliable.
Good for highly stressed joints like bridges, braces etc, even if hide glue has a little edge soundwise.
Disassembles easily with heat and isopropyl alcool

You can use this glue for every glueing job on an instrument (and jigs etc) or a select few- but you always need a bottle.

Sticky situation

I received a fiddle kit for Christmas and when glueing the top and bottom together, I just used the wood glue I've had for years. It's never failed before, but this time it did; the top popped right off! I've heard good things about Titebond so I got some from Stewmac. Worked like a champ and the spillover cleaned up easily with warm water. Glad I got some, and the spout on top works pretty well also!

Reattached bridge on ovation that someone had stepped on, reparid some of the spruce top that had peeled up. Worked great,
Thanks
