About This Item

.100" to .110" width
Favored for string bending; used on many modern electric guitars and basses. (Late '50s Gibson® .098" jumbo fretwire is medium by modern standards.)

Order fretwire by the pound for tidy savings!
Our bulk fretwire is supplied in convenient clear storage tubes, to keep your wire organized and your workbench uncluttered. You'll save 50% or more when you order fretwire by the pound.

Instrument makers and repair shops rely on us for the highest quality 18% nickel-silver fretwire. We supply our fretwire in 2-foot straight lengths. Order 6 feet for a complete guitar or bass fret job, and 4 feet for a mandolin, banjo or ukulele.

Our fretwire is sized to fit a 0.023" (0.58mm) fret slot width.

Fretwire is made in a variety of crown heights. Note that after the frets are installed and leveled, they can lose from .004" to .010" in height. High fretwire has a crown height of .045" or more. It may offer more note sustain due to its slightly greater mass, and more fret dressings are possible between refrettings. Low fretwire is often useful for partial refret jobs.

The classic medium Jumbo

Very good stuff, I have put it on dozens of guitars. If you have to install it in a Fender fretboard you must be aware for the neck compression. Trim the burbs and install the frets 3-4 pieces at a time, while you checking for the straightness.

Good quality metal. It holds its shape well when bent and hammered. Also works well with a press and caul.

i've done tons of refrets for the past 22+ years. i have always used a brand that sounds like "Tim runhop" 6100, but over the past 5-6 years i thought my fretting/refretting skills were going to the dogs. i would install the frets like i always had and had to do quite a bit more levelling and recrowning after the frets were installed??? after closer inspection i noticed that the "tim runhop"fretwire was SOOOOO inconsistent EVEN in width. i switched to the stew mac wire and can now do a refret almost w/o having to level the frets. great value!! time is money.

This is some great fretwire ! ! StewMac as always has super fast shipping, although $8 to ship a few strips of fretwire is a bit much but they have to pay their employees to box it up and mail it out. Tried this wire on a 59 LP replica I built and love it, ordered some more and put it on my other LP. Definately makes a difference in playability.
