About This Item

.100" to .110" width

Our bulk fretwire is supplied in convenient clear storage tubes, to keep your wire organized and your workbench uncluttered. You'll save 50% or more when you order fretwire by the pound.

Instrument makers and repair shops rely on us for the highest quality 18% nickel-silver fretwire. We supply our fretwire in 2-foot straight lengths. Order 6 feet for a complete guitar or bass fret job, and 4 feet for a mandolin, banjo or ukulele.

Our fretwire is sized to fit a 0.023" (0.58mm) fret slot width.

Fretwire is made in a variety of crown heights. Note that after the frets are installed and leveled, they can lose from .004" to .010" in height. High fretwire has a crown height of .045" or more. It may offer more note sustain due to its slightly greater mass, and more fret dressings are possible between refrettings. Low fretwire is often useful for partial refret jobs.

Explain my problem to them with the fretboard and they recommended the right size fret wire to compensate for leveling. They were right on target!!! Full stars

Works great

Just finished building, taking apart and putting back together a bass neck. I had to redo two frets (the ones I remove to place nails in for the glue procedure) and needed more fretwire. So I ordered this and it was fine. I sometimes wish Stewmac would radius the wire, but I built a thing to put a 11 inch radius on it.

"The only Fret wire to use"

By

#146 low wide is the only fret wire I use for re-frets no raising the nut or bridge saddle not to mention I don't level or crown the frets afterward, its not like the fret manufacturer makes a mistake in fret height.

Quick delivery, very nice product.
I use StewMac fretwire for all of my fretboards; it's great stuff.
This review concerns the Wide/Pyramid, specifically.
The unique profile of this wire serves very well as "zero-fret" material.
It lends itself well to shaping or fine tuning/leveling and has a nice steep cutoff angle when used as a zero-fret. The height is perfect when used in conjunction with standard fretwire as the actual frets; the height difference works out just right for the action height. Very nifty product, it fits a neat little niche and serves that purpose very well.
