Fret Erasers

About This Item

An easy way to make your frets shine! Fret Erasers™ are flexible self-padded rubber blocks embedded with abrasive grits.

They're incredibly handy—use them in sequence as a final step on freshly-crowned frets, to erase fine file marks and scratches. The grits are color-coded for convenience. Frets gleam, and play buttery-smooth.

"I used to wrap abrasive papers around small rubber blocks, but that got a little clumsy. Fret Erasers are simpler and faster. No more sandy grit or sharp steel wool particles."
—Erick Coleman, repairman and StewMac tech advisor

Each Fret Eraser is 2-1/2" x 3/4" x 3/8" (63.50mm x 19.05mm x 9.52mm)

SAVE when you order the complete set of 7 grits: 220, 400, 800, 1200, 2000, 4000, and 8000.

Works on stainless frets, too!
All of our tools are suitable for use on stainless-steel fretwire, with the exception of our Fret Tang Nippers. Modern stainless-steel fretwire is known to be harder than the traditional nickel-silver blends, but our own shop experience indicates the wire does not cause premature wear of files or sandpapers.

This purchase replenished my supply of fret erasers. It's a great way to finish off a set-up. Clean, polished frets feel great to play.

Get them when you can

My friend and I were building telecasters. This is his first guitar. We taped off the neck and used the 400 to clean the lacquer from the frets and the 800 to polish. I did heed the warning in the other reviews that the 400 can be aggressive. It took the lacquer residue right off with out much effort. I will definitely be purchasing some of the finer grits. I found these much easier to use compared to sandpaper. It seems like every time I go to order these they are out of stock. Plan ahead and get them when you can.

Best Fret Cleaners and Polishers I Have Ever Used

A set of low grit to high grit erasers? That is all clean and polished frets take? Combined with Stew Macs excellent fret guard set the answer is yes. I bought these out of plain curiosity as no other method of cleaning and polishing my frets were very productive. I have 3 electric guitars all of which had filthy, grimy and greening frets. I thought they were beyond saving boy was I wrong. Starting with the finest grit eraser(8000)not wanting to start to rough and remove metal proved to be the only eraser of the set I needed. I was amazed! Dirt, grime, grease and that old fret green mold just vanished! Using the proper(closest in size fret guard)I took the strings off of all 3 guitars and dug in for a long neck and fret cleaning/polishing while I cleaned up the body on each as well. Using the proper fret guard and the most mild grit fret eraser allowed me to really work each fret top, side to side and where the fret side meets the fret board. Throw in some lemon oil and proper rags and new strings turned all 3 guitars into far better players than they ever were before. If there was a 10 star rating for these erasers I would give them a 10 out of 10.

Only bought one eraser to use on a Carvin V440 I snatched on Ebay. Frets were pretty dull, but I hit them with some Xtra fine steel wool and finished off with the green eraser. Turned out very nice.
Thanks guys! You sell some great products.
