Fret Erasers

About This Item

An easy way to make your frets shine! Fret Erasers™ are flexible self-padded rubber blocks embedded with abrasive grits.

They're incredibly handy—use them in sequence as a final step on freshly-crowned frets, to erase fine file marks and scratches. The grits are color-coded for convenience. Frets gleam, and play buttery-smooth.

"I used to wrap abrasive papers around small rubber blocks, but that got a little clumsy. Fret Erasers are simpler and faster. No more sandy grit or sharp steel wool particles."
—Erick Coleman, repairman and StewMac tech advisor

Each Fret Eraser is 2-1/2" x 3/4" x 3/8" (63.50mm x 19.05mm x 9.52mm)

SAVE when you order the complete set of 7 grits: 220, 400, 800, 1200, 2000, 4000, and 8000.

Works on stainless frets, too!
All of our tools are suitable for use on stainless-steel fretwire, with the exception of our Fret Tang Nippers. Modern stainless-steel fretwire is known to be harder than the traditional nickel-silver blends, but our own shop experience indicates the wire does not cause premature wear of files or sandpapers.

Not very effective...

By
(Customer's Reviews)

I had high hopes for these erasers. Their effectiveness was not very good. I found better uses for them on de-burring nuts after filing, and smoothing out slots, etc....Seriously, don't get your hopes up on this product. Sandpaper and #0000 steel wool is FAR more effective!

The right specialist tools make all the difference!!!

After using #0000 steel wool, painters tape, and polishing compound on my favorite of my 5 guitars, I knew there had to be an easier way. Stewmac had the solution. I purchased the yellow Extra fine fret eraser and my only disappointment was that I didn't order the entire set this month. I will order it next month. The eraser, even being extra fine, was able to give both cleaning, and polishing in one step. I cant wait to use this on a friends guitar later in the week. I can only say this. One of the best under $10 maintenance items you can have for your guitar. Do learn from my mistake, get the full set, and have them for your needs. Smooth frets make an already playable guitar that much more enjoyable. Great item!!!

Awesome little tool!

I work for Guitar Center repairs (for now) and these little guys are a life saver! Whether it's a new guitar we just got in with rough frets or after leveling and crowning frets, these will polish the frets back to a gleaming shine in no time at all! I've also found them useful for polishing fret boards too, if you've accidentally marred them while working on a guitar.
