8" Radius Blocks

About This Item

Accurately true or change a fingerboard's radius and level frets.
We make these hardwood blocks for use with Stikit Abrasives, to radius a fretboard quickly, accurately and without guesswork.

Shaping fingerboards: use 80 through 220-grit
Leveling frets: use 220 through 400-grit

When working on compound radius fretboards, simply change blocks as you progress along the neck.

Dimensions: 8" (203.20mm) long x 2-3/4" (69.85mm) wide

See our shorter blocks for spot leveling, and for use as clamping cauls when gluing frets.

What's your radius?
Quickly find the curvature of a fingerboard or bridge with a set of radius gauges. Use them frequently to check your work as you smooth or shape a fingerboard or frets: a quick visual check keeps you from accidentally altering the shape—a mistake that's easy to make and hard to fix.

This radius tool made my job easier. I'm sure I will buy other radius tools in the future, for other projects.

Glad the block is available but took some work to get it flat along the length of the sanding surface

RADIUS BLOCK

By
(Customer's Reviews)

These radius blocks along with a diamond fret file allow this non-professional person/me to do professional quality fret jobs on my own guitars which I have a few. I also use the straight edge with the grooves in it to start with a straight neck before I begin--I am surprised at the results I have been getting, and proud of my own work--it is very satisfying with right tools. Stew Mac is great. Will answer any questions always.

I used to use just a flat fret leveler file but these blocks with the correct radius make leveling a breeze.

Indispensible Tool

Sometimes you just need a tool that you can't do without. This is one of them. Once I determined that the frets on my guitar kit needed adjustment (and that my fingerboard radius was 12"), I ordered the 8" sanding block. I also ordered the 4" version at the same time. There was no other way for me to "trim" my frets (with a consistent radius) without these blocks. I'm extremely happy with my purchase.

8" long radius blocks (7.25",9.5", and 12" radius)

Hi. Way back in the day I purchased a few 4" blocks but soon replaced these with the 8" versions. Because of the longer length these are the better product for doing a guitar neck. Seriously, I don't know how I was able to even do a guitar neck with the 4" block! If you are still hanging with the 4" blocks, make a change, you won't look back.

Stewmac would be a good friend if he were one person and not world class team of people.

I recently purchased a 12" long block and it was warped from end to end. It would only sand on the ends, not the mid section of the block. I called them up, let them know what was up and they shot me out another block no charge. That was cool. The second block was also warped. This was not cool. Called them again, they put me in touch with some tech dude and I told about my observation and problem with the blocks I had received. He took a straight edge and walked down there and started checking for flat on the one he was going to send me for the third time. I received a flat 12" long block and they never once questioned me or made it weird for me to ask for a flat block. This was an awful transaction. Stewmac made it right and made it not a problem. This is a world class company. Xoxo
