Fret Erasers

About This Item

An easy way to make your frets shine! Fret Erasers™ are flexible self-padded rubber blocks embedded with abrasive grits.

They're incredibly handy—use them in sequence as a final step on freshly-crowned frets, to erase fine file marks and scratches. The grits are color-coded for convenience. Frets gleam, and play buttery-smooth.

"I used to wrap abrasive papers around small rubber blocks, but that got a little clumsy. Fret Erasers are simpler and faster. No more sandy grit or sharp steel wool particles."
—Erick Coleman, repairman and StewMac tech advisor

Each Fret Eraser is 2-1/2" x 3/4" x 3/8" (63.50mm x 19.05mm x 9.52mm)

SAVE when you order the complete set of 7 grits: 220, 400, 800, 1200, 2000, 4000, and 8000.

Works on stainless frets, too!
All of our tools are suitable for use on stainless-steel fretwire, with the exception of our Fret Tang Nippers. Modern stainless-steel fretwire is known to be harder than the traditional nickel-silver blends, but our own shop experience indicates the wire does not cause premature wear of files or sandpapers.

Excellent for more than frets

By
(Customer's Reviews)

My wife and I use these for everything from fret polishing to spot fret board sanding blocks, and keeping the frets from getting scratched, to level sanding our crazy paisley paint jobs. We use every grit for various jobs. and even for polishing our B and G Bender parts. After we install a bender we can take out any fine scratch markes and polish to a chrome like shine. Cheryl wont do a fret board without them now! so please keep these in stock!

Fast, effective fret polishing

By
(Customer's Reviews)

The erasers produce a smooth and very shiny surface but not surprisingly, the coarser grits (below 800) don't last as long as the finer grits. I am sticking with sand paper for the coarse work. Otherwise I am well pleased with the fret erasers.

Preferable to Fret Dressing Sticks

By
(Customer's Reviews)

I had used fret erasers when taking a guitar maintenance, repair, and set up class at the Fab Lab in Bethlehem, Pa., and liked them. When I bought the essential fretting tool set from Stew Mac, it included a set of fret dressing sticks, so I tried them out. I personally found I prefer the fret erasers to the dressing sticks for a number of reasons. I like how they are flexible and get better contact with the frets. I like how you don't have to deal with bands slipping off the sticks or have to move the band to get to a fresh spot after doing some dressing, and I'm figuring the erasers will last a long time. I also like to simply lay them out on my bench in order of grit and work through them one by one for a fret polishing job. Definitely worth adding to my bench.

Fret erasers rule!

By
(Customer's Reviews)

I recently purchased an 800 grit fret eraser. Unsure of which one to start with I went in the middle. This is the coolest thing and so easy and fast. I buy a lot of cheap guitars that have been neglected or never properly set up. This eraser makes polishing up frets quick and easy. No taping off the fretboard and all that crap. Just erase the fret and move on. You'll be amazed at what it will do and you'll wonder why you haven't gotten one before. I'm gonna reorder all the different grits and keep them in my tool box permanently.

Not very effective...

By
(Customer's Reviews)

I had high hopes for these erasers. Their effectiveness was not very good. I found better uses for them on de-burring nuts after filing, and smoothing out slots, etc....Seriously, don't get your hopes up on this product. Sandpaper and #0000 steel wool is FAR more effective!
