Fret Erasers

About This Item

An easy way to make your frets shine! Fret Erasers™ are flexible self-padded rubber blocks embedded with abrasive grits.

They're incredibly handy—use them in sequence as a final step on freshly-crowned frets, to erase fine file marks and scratches. The grits are color-coded for convenience. Frets gleam, and play buttery-smooth.

"I used to wrap abrasive papers around small rubber blocks, but that got a little clumsy. Fret Erasers are simpler and faster. No more sandy grit or sharp steel wool particles."
—Erick Coleman, repairman and StewMac tech advisor

Each Fret Eraser is 2-1/2" x 3/4" x 3/8" (63.50mm x 19.05mm x 9.52mm)

SAVE when you order the complete set of 7 grits: 220, 400, 800, 1200, 2000, 4000, and 8000.

Works on stainless frets, too!
All of our tools are suitable for use on stainless-steel fretwire, with the exception of our Fret Tang Nippers. Modern stainless-steel fretwire is known to be harder than the traditional nickel-silver blends, but our own shop experience indicates the wire does not cause premature wear of files or sandpapers.

I expected more from these erasers...

My first time using these erasers I used them on a Squire strat to learn and get comfortable with them. I bought the set. I feel like they did not shine and polish the frets that much. Then I thought well it's a cheap guitar made with cheap materials. So I tried it on my Gibson Hummingbird. It was not super shinny like on the site. They changed the crown on the frets. I was not pressing hard at all. I will use sand paper and not use these. I feel like I wasted $47. I could of bought a lot of sand paper for $47

fret erasers

I ordered these for a friend who teaches guitar at the store where I work part time. poor guy he only has 36 different guitars and I do most of his work for him. I did tell him that he will have to polish his own frets though. He is a studio /teacher/band musician and very particular. I re-fretted three of his guitars. Most all of the equipment especially the fret bending machine I purchased from stew mac a few years back was was an absolute must. Anyone planning to do fret jobs should invest in that machine. It will save you time and make perfect frets.

I use 1200 grit to polish a sheen into the fret after crowning. Works great!

Had a P-bass with frets that were tarnished from sweat and finger oils. After polishing with the fret erasers the frets are shiny and smooth.

Typically I use papers 240-1000 and jump to Micro mesh (2400-12000) to finish out the job.

I have only used these on one job. They are nice to work with but not nearly as shinny and some scratches left over when done, I still finished out the job with micro mesh. I will continue to use these in the future but try to incorporate them into my current routine, maybe eliminating some of the middle of papers (400, 600, 800.

Not Bad but Micro Mesh is still way sweeter.

These erasers are truly remarkable! I would never do a fret job without these little gems. The quality and luster they bring forth are worth the money. Say goodbye to steel-wool forever!

These little erasers are perfect for putting the final touches on the frets. They're gentle enough that I didn't damage the fretboard, yet the made the frets shine.

I expected amazing results but I found this to actually dull my frets and not nearly as effective as sandpaper.
