Fret Erasers

About This Item

An easy way to make your frets shine! Fret Erasers™ are flexible self-padded rubber blocks embedded with abrasive grits.

They're incredibly handy—use them in sequence as a final step on freshly-crowned frets, to erase fine file marks and scratches. The grits are color-coded for convenience. Frets gleam, and play buttery-smooth.

"I used to wrap abrasive papers around small rubber blocks, but that got a little clumsy. Fret Erasers are simpler and faster. No more sandy grit or sharp steel wool particles."
—Erick Coleman, repairman and StewMac tech advisor

Each Fret Eraser is 2-1/2" x 3/4" x 3/8" (63.50mm x 19.05mm x 9.52mm)

SAVE when you order the complete set of 7 grits: 220, 400, 800, 1200, 2000, 4000, and 8000.

Works on stainless frets, too!
All of our tools are suitable for use on stainless-steel fretwire, with the exception of our Fret Tang Nippers. Modern stainless-steel fretwire is known to be harder than the traditional nickel-silver blends, but our own shop experience indicates the wire does not cause premature wear of files or sandpapers.

I bought 3 different grits, and not only do they work for frets but would have dozens of other applications as well.
An excellent tool!
I'm going to let my model railroading buds know about them!

No mess. No fuss. Get a good shine in a snap. If you like fresh frets with every string change, these will take 1/4 the time. At home, in the shop. I'll use em for everything! Well, maybe not fretless basses. But everything else!
Stew Mac rocks.

Ideal for cleaning dirty fretboards

I bought the 200, 400 and 800 grit erasers for cleaning mighty dirty fretboards. And they do an excellent job. The 5 stars are for this usage - I don't use them for fretwork.

Saves your right thumb!

Another great Stewmac product! I bought 400, 800, and 1200 grits. I'm two jobs in with them. I really like the price to value and the performance. In my opinion the heavy grits are best for lighter dressing work. (When more aggressive shaping isn't involved.) I think I'd stick with more traditional methods up to 1000 grit in those cases. I will definetly order the finer grits for all jobs though. No more sore thumb. No more steel wool cleanup!

Ok but not great

For some reason I'm not crazy for these fret erasers. They do their job adequately but I don't think they are that great. Just fair.
