StewMac Buffing Wheels

About This Item

For a professional quality gloss
The best soft cotton wheels for buffing instruments to a mirror finish.

  • Gentle touch for instrument finishing.
  • Fluffy cotton fits into curves and crevices.
  • Pleated airways keep the wheels cool.
  • 16-ply bleached flannel built on steel core.

Canton cotton is the most-used choice among instrument finishers. Canton flannel wheels fluff out to a wide, soft buffing surface that conforms to any shape. Ideal for all guitar finishes, as well as plastics and metals. (Metal blackens any wheel, so many shops save one wheel for metals only.)

Domet cotton is the very softest available. Use Domet flannel with fine compound to get an extra-high gloss. A versatile buffer setup uses Canton wheels on one side (Medium compound) and Domet on the other (Fine compound).

14"-diameter wheels fit the StewMac Buffing Arbor, with its sturdy 1"-diameter shaft.

12"-diameter wheels fit our old buffing arbor and other buffers with a 3/4"-diameter shaft.

Sold individually.

Important: Install two or more wheels per side to create wide buffs for instrument work. Don't mix different compounds on the same wheel.

These wheels are included with our Guitar Buffer Complete Outfit.

Great, but beware the flange size!

By
(Customer's Reviews)

The wheels appeared to be good quality, but beware that the inner metal disk is quite large and require a large set of expensive flanges for either side of the wheel, especially when stacking multiple wheels. SM has these large flanges for their buffing arbor assembly, but does not sell them individually.

I use 3 Canton wheels on the left (fine compound) and 3 Domet on the right (extra fine compound) of my Stew Mac buffer which gives excellent results.

great buffers

i love these. they last and last and last. try to avoid buffer metal hardware and frets with these because it will turn your wheel black. i bought a separate wheel for doing just that. if you do get these dirty, no problem just throw them in the washing machine and they come out clean. no need to dry them just put them back on the buffing machine and let the spinning dry them. just watch out for the flying water! lol

What a shine

I have several of these buffing wheels. I usually double them up to give more buffing area. They enable you to get that showroom shine. They are well constructed and last a long time.
