Solomon SR-965 Soldering Iron

About This Item

Durable • Reliable • Great price!
The best economy-priced iron we've found for guitar and amp soldering jobs.

It heats to 400 degrees F (204 degrees C), and at 40 watts, is a step above short-lived 15-30 watt megamart irons.

    Features include:
  • Affordable price, exceptional quality
  • Durable stainless steel shank sleeve
  • Comfortable cushioned grip
  • Long-life non-corrosive 1/32" fine-point tip
  • 4-1/2 foot cord
    We recommend:
  • Order a chisel tip for soldering connections to the back of a control pot or grounding a wire to a tremolo claw. It's also handy for steaming out wood dents with a damp cloth.
  • The adjustable Soldering Stand is a must-have for convenience and safety.
  • Use #0505 standard 60/40 rosin core solder with this iron. Lead-free solder is not recommended due to its high melting point (above 420°F).

#0502 is a 110-volt AC electrical appliance, 60Hz. It has a U.S. standard Type A plug with two flat parallel prongs, ungrounded.

#0602 is a 220-volt AC electrical appliance, 50Hz. It has an international plug Type C (Europlug) with two round prongs, ungrounded.

Great tips  great iron

Used my soldering iron so much I finally had to replace the tips. The iron originally came with the pointed tip so this time I ordered the chisel tips and that worked really good. Thanks StewMac for the fast delivery.

Nice little iron

I finally bought a nice soldering unit and it wasn't expensive...I don't do a lot of electric jobs but when I do I always cuss myself for not having one of these...Stained glass irons and most guns are just to big and clumsy...Can't wait for the day I need it...I'm already glad I have it...

Buy the extra nibs with the unit, although the one supplied is very good.

I'm really liking this soldering iron so far. Tip gets up to heat quick enough. Balanced well for easy control to do guitar wiring effortlessly. Great price and performance!

Hot, but very end isn't as hot as the rest

This soldering iron is pretty great. It heats up fast, feels great, and is really nice to use. However, the very end of the iron tip doesn't get as hot as the sides a couple millimeters up, making it a little difficult to use precisely. I'm not sure if it's just the tip, or the unit itself.

Simple, and effective, and able to get into tight spots. I suggest buying a soldering iron stand along with is iron and the chisel tip. Works great and highly recommend it if you do electric guitar wiring.

I use this for occasional soldering jobs. When I was professional I had a much more expensive station but this one heats up fast, has a nice balance/weight to it, and so far has not failed me on the few jobs I have done. I use this maybe 1-2 hours max a weekend, so we will see how long it lasts.... but for me it I perfect and at an excellent price, I can buy several for the price of one of the professional stations. Add the stand and it is almost as convenient too....
