Pickup Clearance Gauges

About This Item

Simple and fast way to consistently set the gap between strings and pickups.

Clever time-saver: Fret a string at the last fret, slide a gauge under it, and raise the pickup until the polepiece touches the gauge. 1/32", 1/16", 3/32" and 1/8" thicknesses span nearly all the pro player specs in Dan Erlewine's book, How to Make Your Electric Guitar Play Great.

Made of non-magnetic brass, more practical than steel rulers or feeler gauges. Set of 4.

Thanks to guitar tech Dirk Wacker for developing this tool.

Improved all my guitars!

Forget struggling with marks on a measuring device, just find the right diameter and slide it under your string. It couldn't be easier.

Perfect tool for the job!!

These gauges are the perfect tool for setting the height at the pickups on my bass. No more measuring and adjusting several times to get it right. I can place it on the pickup and adjust the clearance to the correct height the first time!!

Handy dandy little set of set up gauges

I love this set and use them all the time for quickly setting pickup clearance and checking 12th fret string heights (1/16 and 3/32" work well for me). They're great for the shop, a set up booth or anybody who needs adjustment tools on the go. They're lightweight and non magnetic. What's not to like?

Easy adjustment of pups ,you can easily level pickups quickly as the gauges don't stick to the magnets in the pups .

Another StewMac "head-slapper" tool!

"Dang - why didn't I think of that?!?"

Having a measuring tool that's immune to the pup's magnetic field makes adjustment SO much easier. I really like the small "bend" in each gauge that fits in-between the strings so that moving from pole to pole is super-fast.

Pickup Clearance Gages

No directions were supplied. With six different types of stringed instruments that have pickups I was expecting directions.

I use these in regular maintenance and setups. Very handy to set pickup height. No more using metal scales that "stick" to the pickups.

These are great and I think a handy addition to all setup kits. I think they should include at least a few adjustment suggestions for the newer people and musicians. Do you hear that Erick Coleman!? Lol.
