Pickup Clearance Gauges

About This Item

Simple and fast way to consistently set the gap between strings and pickups.

Clever time-saver: Fret a string at the last fret, slide a gauge under it, and raise the pickup until the polepiece touches the gauge. 1/32", 1/16", 3/32" and 1/8" thicknesses span nearly all the pro player specs in Dan Erlewine's book, How to Make Your Electric Guitar Play Great.

Made of non-magnetic brass, more practical than steel rulers or feeler gauges. Set of 4.

Thanks to guitar tech Dirk Wacker for developing this tool.

Pickup Clearance Gauges to finsh that electic guitar setup.

Did you ever try to get the clearance of a string using a steel feeler gauge. The magnet is pulling on the gauge and fighting you all the way. The non-magnetic brass Pickup Clearance Gauges make this adjustment quick and easy. The clearance on this one used guitar was way to short. After making the clearance adjustment the guitar sounded great, and not fighting the magnet in the pickups made the adjustment a snap. Get one you will love it.

After eyeballing and using a metal scale I had to get this set. So much easier to check and adjust. Plus no magnet problems.

I thought most of my guitars had the pickups at the correct height, but I was wrong. It is so unwieldy to try to measure the space below the string with a ruler type gauge, because of pole pieces and the top of the pickup itself, and eyeball it.
With this set, you just slide the gauge between the pole piece and the string, and it either fits or clears!!! takes seconds to do......so I did all my 36 guitars in short order.
Many were way too high based on a ruler and eyebaal or "guestimation".
