Dont use pencil dust...

Use Guitar Grease, it is far superior to anything else and it stays put. I use the String Lifter to apply Guitar Grease to strings slots after the guitar is tuned up to pitch. The little container looks small but this is going to last through hundreds of applications. It works.

Amazing product, for a while I was using graphite from pencils to colour the nut slots with but this stuff works 100% better. Use it on nut slots and saddle slots, I've even used it on my strat's 2 pivot bridge studs for smooth whammy operation

A little messy, but mighty good stuff. Be careful on porous or cheap nuts, tho; it is black.

My experience with Stewmac

By
(Customer's Reviews)

I own several guitars and most have Bigsby or bigsby type tremolos which require tuning after you use the tremolo for a few times unless you have a roller bridge and without the guitar grease on the nut it still requires an occasional tuning each performance. With the Stewmac tusq XL nuts and the nuts you don't want to change because of cosmetic preferences makes the use of Stewmac guitar grease necessary. With the two products from Stewmac, all of my guitar's stay in tune. I've shopped from Stewmac for many years and have never been unsatisfied. They have helped me with their answers by email many times. Believe me from my past experience--they are professionals and know the right answers. Bob Hardison, Columbia, Tn
