Precision-ground for flatness.
Fast, accurate leveling tools for the pro shop.

Each heavyweight steel tube is precision-ground for flatness on the narrow sides. Attach abrasive to quickly level frets or unfretted fingerboards.

Each heavyweight rectangular 1" x 2" steel tube is precision-ground for flatness on two opposite sides. The tool's edges are smooth to prevent gouging.

Available in three lengths, to level any fingerboard.

Roger Sadowsky, ace builder and repairman, wrote us to say:
"I have been leveling fingerboards and frets for 30 years and thought I was pretty set in my ways. However, I have recently tried the 16" steel levelers (#4578) and man, talk about teaching an old dog new tricks! My fingerboards have never been better, and they work much better than files for leveling frets. Thank you again, StewMac!!!"

Cut and stick!
3M Stikit Gold Paper Self-adhesive Abrasives are the right width for our leveling and radius sanding tools. Attach 80 through 220-grits for radiusing and leveling the fingerboard, and 220 through 400-grits for leveling the frets.

Works on stainless frets, too!
All of our tools are suitable for use on stainless-steel fretwire, with the exception of our Fret Tang Nippers and Fret Cutters. Modern stainless-steel fretwire is known to be harder than the traditional nickel-silver blends, but our own shop experience indicates the wire does not cause premature wear of files or sandpapers.

Fret to the next level!

If you combine this with the 3M Stikit, that's when it all make sense. I'm a hobbyist luthier and I can say that this made a significant difference in term of neck action (lower). Great addition to the fretting tool box

Tough and Level

As level as you would expect it. In addition, it's quite heavy and very tough. The photo makes it seem like some extruded metal but it's quite heavy. I really like it.

This is a NECESSITY tool for fret jobs.

All I can say is wow!!! I finally got the 16 inch fret leveler and 220 sand paper. This tool made fret leveling fun instead of such a long process and with a little elbow grease the frets were leveled in no time. Thanks Stewmac you're awesome!!!

The 16 inch tubular is a perfect weight and length for accomplishing a full fret level when coupled with 3m 320 grit sticky back. This is the tool!

Add this to your arsenal of tools

Nice heavy weight makes leveling a breeze. Also have the aluminum radius sanding beams but this is a lot heavier. Great for compound fret boards where radius sanding beams are not appropriate.

very nice

OK, there's not a lot you can do wrong with such a tool but nobody said that.

It's nice, heavy, tough and of course perfectly flat. Good.

I was hesitant to purchase initially, but glad I did. I like the weight. Even though my first use was on a 16 inch radius, I had no problems retaining the radius. I was very pleased with the result.

I love it

I use this beam all the time,it's great. Takes all the guess work out of it. Planning on getting the other sizes too.

This makes a quick, very accurate job out of any leveling. Every shop should have one.

My favorite fret leveling tool

This is a great tool for getting the bulk of the frets level because of its weight. I barely apply any pressure and it does all the work. A staple in my shop.
