It's easy to monitor your shop — or your guitar case — with this extremely affordable, accurate and space-saving digital hygrometer.

Affordable humidity/temperature monitor.
Experienced luthiers try to maintain 40-50 percent relative humidity in their shops, the range at which wooden stringed instruments are most stable. Excess dryness causes wood to shrink and crack. Too much moisture can cause wood to swell, and newly-sprayed finishes to blush.

The easy-to-read display provides relative humidity and Fahrenheit/Celsius temperature at a glance. A memory function stores minimum and maximum daily readouts. Unlike analog gauges, the unit has no imprecise moving parts and never needs calibration. It operates between 20-99 percent relative humidity, with reliable accuracy to 1 percent.

A handy magnetic mount and battery are included.
Dimensions: 3-1/2" x 1-1/4" x 1/4" (90mm x 32mm x 6mm). Super-slim to fit in your guitar case, too!
5-year manufacturer's warranty.

Cigar Box Toy

This is the "Caliber III" manufactured in China for Western Humidor Corporation. It is calibrated poorly for accuracy when relative humidity (RH) is 75%, which is ideal for a humidor. I simply don't understand why StewMac and others pawn these off on trusting customers.

this works!

I took my new humidity gauge to the workshop of an experienced and trusted luthier friend who keeps his shop humidity constant and checks it constantly with two expensive gauges. To my surprise and pleasure my new gauge quickly recalculated and matched his gauges. This thing works!

Essential tool for luthiers

To know the relative humidity when gluing on an instrument's braces is a non negotiable. Players also benefit from this knowledge of low humnidity in order to know when to use a humidifier in order to save them expensive crack repairs.
