Designed especially for stringed instrument work. Our exclusive design provides excellent control when routing for binding and inlays.

SAVE when you buy this complete set including:

  • Precision Router Base
  • Edge Guide
  • 5/16" router bit for binding
  • Air pump with hose

Our sturdy, compact base is the best way to hold a Dremel for freehand routing, inlaying, widening fret slots, and more. Made of machined steel, brass and aluminum, it features precision cutting depth adjustment with large thumbwheels to eliminate guesswork.

  • Excellent control
  • Easy installation
  • Accurate freehand routing

Sturdy, compact, and adjustable
Each turn of the large knurled thumbwheels adjusts your Dremel's cutting depth by .035" (.889mm). You can rout an inlay cavity that's precisely compensated for the thickness of the pearl and glue, for less sanding later.

Tall twin handles give you excellent control for freehand routing, and you get a good view of your work. There's even a built-in nozzle for attaching a mini air pump to continuously blow away the dust—you'll rout inlay cavities more precisely, for a better fit requiring less filler.

Complete set includes:

Precision Router Base
For sturdy, accurate freehand routing
Binding Edge Guide
To cut smooth, clean binding channels up to 3/8" thick
Router Bit for Binding
Small diameter is ideal for tight curves
Mini Air Pump
Keeps the cutting area free of dust

And here's a tip from Dan Erlewine: clamp the Dremel and router base upside-down on your workbench, and use the bottom of the router base as a mini drum sander, as Dan Erlewine did for a Gibson L-1 archtop bridge in this issue of our Trade Secrets Newsletter.

Installation is easy.
Simply unscrew the threaded plastic collar on the nose of the Dremel, and screw on the Precision Router Base. Its 3/4-12 thread fits:
Dremel 4000, 400XPR, Professional, MultiPro and most corded models made since 1986
Black & Decker Wizard and RTX
Our Foredom custom handpiece

Make your Dremel a more versatile guitar shop tool.

Great tool

I've got two of for doing inlay and one connected to the circle cutting jig. These are precision tools and do exactly as advertised. I am very impressed.

precise and well built

This is a great little tool and very useful for so many things. With just the right bit and some concentration the precision is amazing. I added my own little dust extractor to the base and attach the shop vac from overhead. I might even put an LED in there to shed some light on the subject. It works well however if Stew mac could design something more refined I would be first in line. Thanks guys.

The base is very well built and will be a part of my shop for a long time. I have made multiple inlays with ease and precision. This base makes the inlay work easy.

Great tool, but use some common sense

This is a precision tool, very well designed and will do what it is designed to do.

Some complain about router vibration causing screws and adjustment to come loose. Like any tool, the operator must learn to co-exist with the tool. Even a screw driver can disappoint, if not properly used.

One might try some medium strength Loctite to keep vibration from loosening screws. An occasional check for loose parts is always a good idea. A little effort and this tool will serve you well.

StewMac loves me and I love StewMac!

I ordered this but when it came it was damaged in shipping. The bolt that holds the edge guide was bent out of a 90 degree angle. StewMac shipped me a whole edge guide and it arrived the next day. Then they left a message on my phone a few weeks later to see if I was happy with it. The product works fantastically and I am constantly surprised at StewMac's friendly costumer service, insanely fast and reliable shipping and also their pride in quality.

Once you have this attachment at your disposal, you will wonder how you ever managed without it! Amongst other light routing jobs, I find it particularly useful for purfling ledges. It is accurate and fast.

worth it

A very nice router base for the Dremel. Combined with the circle cutter it is just awesome what stability I have. I like the dual screw design. Be certain your dremel has good bearings and don't over-work the bits to prevent chip out in figured woods. Very well made.
