A more stable way to support your Dremel. Our sturdy, compact base is the best way to hold a Dremel for freehand routing, inlaying, widening fret slots and more.

Made of machined steel, brass and aluminum, it features precision cutting depth adjustment with large thumbwheels to eliminate guesswork.

Designed especially for stringed instrument work.

  • Excellent control
  • Easy installation
  • Accurate freehand routing

Sturdy, compact, and adjustable
Each turn of the large knurled thumbwheels adjusts your Dremel's cutting depth by .035" (.889mm). You can rout an inlay cavity that's precisely compensated for the thickness of the pearl and glue, for less sanding later.

Tall twin handles give you excellent control for freehand routing, and you get a good view of your work. There's even a built-in nozzle for attaching a mini air pump to continuously blow away the dust—you'll rout inlay cavities more precisely, for a better fit requiring less filler.

And here's a tip from Dan Erlewine: clamp the Dremel and router base upside-down on your workbench, and use the bottom of the router base as a mini drum sander, as Dan Erlewine did for a Gibson L-1 archtop bridge in this issue of our Trade Secrets Newsletter.

Installation is easy.
Simply unscrew the threaded plastic collar on the nose of the Dremel, and screw on the Precision Router Base. Its 3/4-12 thread fits:
Dremel 4000, 400XPR, Professional, MultiPro and most corded models made since 1986
Black & Decker Wizard and RTX
Our Foredom custom handpiece

Make your Dremel a more versatile guitar shop tool.

My no name dremel copy fits in the threads of it, wich is nice. It is easy to adjust and seems to be of good quality. I've only used it for one binding job but so far so good.

Precision is a great name for it

Inlay work can be frustrating enough without the proper tools. I had been using a cheap plastic one a friend had let me borrow. It was always slipping in depth, making life miserable. I finally decided to spring for this one. No regrets. Inlay has now become pleasurable, and it shows in my work. Go ahead and buy the air pump. Especially if you don't have a vac set up. If you're wearing your mask (like you should be) you'll need it to blow the dust off your piece!

I have tried, tested and failed in finding a cheaper alternative for this Router base. It is quite simply the only tool for precise and clean inlay work! and well worth the investment. AAAA++++ on this product, thanks Stewmac

Worth it

I put off getting one of these for a long time because of the price - tried to make do with a plastic Dremel base. Now I have a repair project that requires some precision routing. This router base is just the ticket. I'm very happy I finally got one of these.
ps.I threw my Dremel router base in the trash, which is right where it belongs.

This tool was used to install my very complicated F-5 mandolin inlay. It made the job easier due to the large base and easy adjustment wheels. Highly recommend .
