Unclear Scale. There are two Guidelines on this vise. The motion of the vise is not good. It's not smooth. I need extra power to push it back to the "0" point. I think it's not a good product as I bought many tools from Stewmac.

bigger jaws please

I love the flexibility and sturdiness of this product, but it's just SCREAMING for bigger jaws! The instructions advise the user to drill a wood screw through the back jaw, into your neck jig, to prevent it from accidently getting loose. Why nut supply it with bigger jaws (padded ones!), so the vise has more grip? That way, I'd be able to use it to clamp and tilt guitars too, and not only jigs!

With this adjustment, I'd gladly give the angle vise 5 stars!

StewMac, please make big padded jaws available as an accessory? I would thank you sooooo much for that...

More Versatile Than A Regular Vise!

I bought the Angle Vise along with the Erlewine Neck Jig and Shop Stand. They all work well together for sure. The only complaint that I have about the Angle Vise is the sad washers that came with the vise to mount it to the shop stand. They were so small in diameter that they barely even covered over the slots in the vise when the vise was lined up to be mounted to the stand platform. I got some bigger diameter washers that provided a much bigger bearing surface. Washers are a small thing, but it really rotted me when I wanted to put this vise and stand together and did not have any of the size I needed lying around! Stew-Mac....some bigger washers please!

This is a necessary add on for the shop stand. Hooks up easy and does what it's suppose to.

A deal for sure.

You would be hard pressed to find a better angle vise at this price. No slop, very solid. Here it is holding a 2" thick ply work surface in my guitar lab.
